Favouritism at work

My boss is a blunt character, and rubs a lot of my colleagues up the wrong way.

However, I like her and we click- we share a hobby, have both been through a similar tough time personally and we do meet outside work; I don't mind her bluntness; but I do see how she has crossed the line at times being OTT with colleagues.

I respect and like my colleagues a lot, a couple of them are friends now too and it's becoming awkward when it's obvious she treats me differently to others - it's not been huge things, just her general tone, chattiness, etc.

I don't suck up to her, and I don't treat anyone differently but I'm starting to hear talk about favouritism (In a jokey way, but not and I don't blame them- what can I do?

You could pipe up with what my colleague said when another one accused our boss of favourites ‘oh shut up, you’re not even your mums favourite!’ It made us laugh and lightened the mood.

I get the x person is such a bitch, be careful around Person A… I treat everyone the same, I’m polite and cheerful and get queries sorted. I’d x person is blunt I’m cheery in my response. Sometimes people just don’t get on, sometimes it’s the person saying person A is this and that who is actually the problem
