Is there a reason I can eat loads and not feel full before period?

It's quite amazing. I can eat and eat and eat, and not feel sated. Rest of the month, I have good cues to stop eating and easily recognise when I've had enough.

Scanning google seems to say we do need a few extra calories before/ during but like not two pints of ice cream and lots of toast Blush

I did find a thing that says new research does actually show our brain needs more glucose, but don't have the energy to hunt through the 'research' to see if it's shonky science?

But I feel like the change in hormones does something to leptin and gherkin?

Yep same. I get a different craving every month too.

Yep - but it's not even as simple as carbs or sugar.

Two days before my period starts, I'm eyeing up the cat, and I'm a vegetarian...

@blobby10

Same here - the week before I'm due I crave carbs and salt. It used to be sweet stuff but that's abated over the past year. I assume my changing cravings are to do with peri menopause as I'm 'that' age! Day before yesterday I just wanted to eat and eat and eat and eat then eat some more. Period due yesterday but hasn't arrived yet - maybe this will be the month I miss one. Then another. Then another 🤞🤞🤞
Yes I've noticed a change to my cravings from chocolate and cake, toast etc to salty things, I never used to bother with crisps much but in the week before my period I could eat them non stop, I'm 43 and noticed some other small changes happening too so could be peri menopause.

Ha like a pp my cravings have changed from sweet to savoury, salty anyway. Guessing menopause is the reason.

Happily my cravings are season appropriate , I'm craving cheesy hot cross buns and lamb now, but over Christmas (my last period) it was Turkey and pigs in blankets. Handy.

I crave carbs which makes me hungrier in general. If I stay strong and have lots of protein it's much easier, I can still do 20-22 hours fasted at that time of the month.
