Four months with no period - is this bad?

Posting for traffic: I had my son 2 years ago and ever since my periods have been quite erratic, and really heavy. However I am now on my fourth month with no period at all and all negative pregnancy tests. I’m just wondering if this is normal after having a baby within this time frame or whether it’s something I should get checked out? My doctors receptionists aren’t the nicest so I don’t want to be ridiculed phoning up to get checked out if this isn’t something to worry over. Any advice/experience/knowledge? Thank you.

I also have amenorrhoea (missing periods), but mines the result or pcos and endo.

In my experience, my doctors won't do anything unless missing for a substantial amount of time. Took over 14 months for them to act last time. You can get induced for one, and there's internal scans to see what going on.

However, this is what doctors are for, so please call if you're worried and ignore the receptionist.

I would see your doctor, he may want to do a thyroid test.

Did you have vaccine or booster just before your periods stopped. My two daughters periods stopped, one for four months and the other for five months. Came back as normal then. Doctor told them that it's a very common side effect

If it's not normal for you then contact your GP. Better to get checked than leave it and miss something.

I was going to ask if you had been vaccinated too.

I've not had a period since I had my booster in December. However, I am also 50, so it may be completely unrelated and simply be menopause. But in your case it is more likely to be something else. Definitely contact the GP. Do they have e-consult? You can bypass the receptionists then. But if you do have to speak to them, just saw erratic periods and leave it at that. They don't need to know more than that to triage so resist any fishing.

Didn’t have a period for four months after my booster also.

GP's will usually investigate it after 2 missed periods so I would book in to see yours.

GeneLovesJezebel · 30/03/2022 10:14

If you’re peri menopause age it could be that.
But I had scatty periods, and the GP wasn’t interested unless I was trying to conceive.

Hiddenvoice · 30/03/2022 10:48

I’d go and get it checked with your gp. I know some people have been impacted by the booster but not everyone has. My nhs trust has made it clear that they want anyone whose had the booster and missed their periods to contact them so they can keep track of it.

I’m 26, had periods since my last booster so don’t think it’s related. I’ve got a doctors appointment for this morning xx
