To expect the 2 GP,s who told me my BP is dangerously high to not just send me away?

i had an appointment last week and also 2 weeks before xmas with 2 different GP,s as i was feeling unwell.

Both GP,s told me my BP was very high 180/110 the 2nd one told me to make an appointment with the practise nurse which i did and have just been.
she went ballistic as in my medical records it says it has been this way for nearly a year, she immediately phoned the GP and asked him to see me there and then and he said no make an appointment

she was outraged and took me to the desk but the receptionist said i have to phone tomorrow morning to make another appointment, the practise nurse was shaking her head.

so this will be the 4th visit tomorrow (if i manage to get an appointment) and the practise nurse said i need betablockers and tablets for my anxiety.

i feel slightly miffed.

yaNbu.

A practice nurse took my BP twice over 2 weeks, was concerned at how high it was (similar level to yours) and spoke to the GP who wrote a prescription without even seeing me. But is best that your Dr sees you really.

However, it has never been followed up/monitored properly since then. I have now changed GP.

Btw, don't worry. High BP is treatable.

YANBU!!! this is disgraceful conduct

If it has been that high for a year is is not an emergency and you will be better off having a proper review appointment.

I would have thought a BP that high would be of concern (even allowing for whitecoat syndrome)
