Baby clothes washing

What would you do?
So my baby girl is 20week old and teething. She goes through a lot of clothes as I like to change her if she dribbles alot on bibs or if she gets sick on her clothes.... like even a damp patch. I'm not talking a full on vomit but it still bothers me if the wet patch is next to her skin. My partner feels I change her too much - he understands wet through/poonami's etc....

So, am I being over the top?
I know this sounds petty and it's me who does all the washing but just wondering 🤣

YANBU. I'd probably make sure it was bibs getting changed a lot but I'd never leave a baby with a wet patch next to their skin.

Bananabutter · 28/03/2022 13:40

YANBU; I’m the same. It’s not nice to be in damp clothing.

nearlyspringyay · 28/03/2022 13:40

Both of mine had reflux. The washing was insane! I wouldn't sit in wet clothes so why should a baby?

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 28/03/2022 13:42

I had the same.
I used to double bib.
Get the bibs that have a waterproof back, it really beloZ not the nicest bibs, but they are practical.

I did the same. I found it easier to dress them in the same colour everyday then you can shove a quick wash on instead of constantly feeling like you've a huge basket of colours that don't go.

I'd hate to think they'll werw uncomfortable. A decent thick or double layer bib helps instead of the little fashion ones too.

luxxlisbon · 28/03/2022 13:59

Being in damp clothes is horrible, particularly around their chests so YANBU and it’s a weird thing for your partner to take issue with unless you’re doing like 6+ changes every single day.

Make sure you buy plastic backed bibs. I didn’t even know why they sell fabric bibs, utterly pointless as it just soaks through.

theruffles · 28/03/2022 14:45

I don't think it's OTT. My DC2 is a very dribbly/sicky baby and I'm forever changing his clothes and bibs. I hate the thought of him having damp clothes on his skin for ages. It just seems very uncomfortable to me.

Caterina99 · 28/03/2022 17:09

I think at one point DS was going through up to 10 bibs a day. Better than washing his clothes constantly though!

Even with the bibs, I’d change his clothes if they were wet or gross or whatever. Babies do generate a lot of washing

3cats4poniesandababy · 28/03/2022 17:16

I agree with the damp clothes not being okay to be left but I used to change bibs often to limit the outfit changes. Also not all bibs are equal some are more absorbant than others. I brought a few cheap multipacks off amazon.

Chonfox · 28/03/2022 17:25

I had reflux babies so changed them a LOT however the odd damp patch I would have left to dry in if it was very small/not likely to cause discomfort

ItchyandVeryScratchy · 28/03/2022 17:29

YANBU what a strange thing for your partner to take issue with. I would change your baby as often as required. The idea of leaving a baby all soggy makes my skin crawl 😬 😔 horrible to have a wet feeling on your chest and it can't be good for you either?!

Thank u ladies ❤️
I'm glad u agree 👍🏻 just checking o wasn't creating even more work for myself! 🤣

I changed my babies regularly, especially after introducing solids . We went through 3-5 outfits a day easily . It’s insane how much clothing you go through . It gets easier once they turn two I find .

Sceptre86 · 30/03/2022 17:42

My dd is 6 months and has reflux, I too do a lot of washing. I agree with you, sitting in wet clothes is uncomfortable so I will change her.

Plantlady10 · 01/04/2022 10:53

I do leave my 3 month old in damp clothes sometimes. Yesterday he spat up 6 times in 45 mins - if i changed him after every spit up I'd be doing nothing else all day. He also hates being changed, but his happy enough with a little damp patch. Its fine if you want to change your baby, i just also think its fine to leave them sometimes (as long as they're not soaking)
