Oporto airport, time restrictions

Anyone any idea if there are restrictions on flights leaving / arriving at Oporto airport between midnight and 5am? There seems to be for Lisbon but I can’t see if it’s the same at Oporto.

Sá Carneiro Airport in Porto has restrictions on the number of civil jet aircraft which can operate between midnight and 0600. It's currently 11 per day, or 70 per week, or 2100 per year maximum.

In Lisbon, which as far as I can tell has the same rules but 26 movements per day or 91 per week, the restrictions don't apply to turboprop aircraft, military, medical or evacuation flights, emergencies, or pre-arranged exceptions in the public interest. There's also an hour's grace after midnight for late arrivals, and from 0500 onwards for early arrivals due to prevailing conditions.

No worries. I have to say, it does seem an odd request, even on Mumsnet.

Is there any particular issue you have or are trying to resolve?

Someone I know is hoping to go on a chartered flight from Oporto overnight but I remembered Lisbon had restrictions so was wondering about Oporto Smile

Lisbon is one of the world's last few city centre major airports and the movement restrictions are designed to reduce the noise impact for residents, not eliminate it.

Porto is much less busy, it is 10km or so to the north of the city centre, and the runway is oriented 17/35 (almost East-West) so it doesn't have anything like the same impact. I'm actually slightly baffled why it has night restrictions apart from because Lisbon does.

Anyway, it is certainly possibly to fly in or out of Porto between midnight and 0600, just not as easy as it is during the day. One thing I would say is that the metro line out to Porto airport is not, as far as I recall, an overnight service. I'm sure the carrier wouldn't arrange it if it weren't possible!

It will be a private charter, yet to be arranged. Who knows if it will go ahead.
