AIBU keeping her off

My DD has an issue with her feet. Doctors not quite sure what but she can't wear normal school shoes but has to wear trainers otherwise her ankles swell and walking is painful.
School know this and it's never been an issue until now. They've tightened up on uniform including no trainers. I wrote to the school explaining the issue and was told I needed a doctors note which will cost me £20.
I can't afford it at the moment and the doctors have said they have staff off and the note isn't a priority (understand that completely).
Anyway the teachers stopped my DD at the gate and said detention for wrong footwear. She tried to explain but the teacher talked over her and told her off for attitude. DD walked out of school.
Safeguarding lead phoned me and said she'd walked out before a teacher had even mentioned detention.
On top of this DD has about 20 days of school left and we were told strict uniform didn't apply to Y11s.
My DD was wrong to walk out but now I have 2 totally different versions of events and don't know who's telling the truth.
I have tried to call the school but no answer and left a message but no response
It's not really an AIBU but what should I do?
Take her back to school and tell her to take the punishment, even though she can't help it or keep her off until I speak to them
So as not to drip feed I have emailed the school and explained about waiting for a doctors note so they are aware.
Tbh we've had endless problems with the school and am so glad she's leaving in the summer.

I’d keep her home until you can speak to the school and reach an agreement about her footwear. I’d also not accept her being in detention for something she has no control over.

Slightly off tangent for feet that don’t fit high street shoes try www.widerfitshoes.co.uk/

I’m a size 5, 6E width and almost cried when I found nice looking shoes that would fit. They have zips and Velcro on some as well as layers of insoles so you can adjust them to how your feet are that day.

Flowers for your DD, having awkward feet is awful. Hope you get school sorted.

Thanks. I did manage to speak to safeguarding lead who said they shouldn't have mentioned her trainers because rules for Y11 are remaining relaxed.
He also seemed to accept my DDs version which makes me wonder if they're have been lots of issues with uniform.

Could you prong off your email to the school regarding dd's problem with her feet so she has something to back it up when questioned.
