Late cancellation dentist!!

Today I have woken up with cold symptoms.

Today I was meant to go to my routine hygienist appointment. I pay towards payment plan to see a dentist and a hygienist once a year si it's not necessary I go but I know cancelling last minute is annoying.

I've done an lft which is negative but I know that doesn't mean I don't have covid, could be just too soon to tell. I had covid a few months back and it was very cold like.

Even if it's not covid I don't feel like attending and having mr teeth scraped and poked for half hour with a blocked/runny nose. My head is thumping. My mouth feels icky and gunky like you get with a cold.

Rang up the dentist, they were so rude saying that it'll go down as a late cancellation, practice manager will look at my notes etc.

I've always turned up for my apps, apart from one time I had a sickness bug and couldn't stop going toilet or being sick, but that was about 5 years ago and I've attended on time ever since!

What do they want me do to? go in with a cold, potential covid symptoms? Spread it to other patients and staff?

Aibu to be annoyed at their attitude? Especially in covid times!

I get they lose money, but they may get the slot filled last minute! I'm paying £10 a month for 2 rushed through appointments every year anyway 🤷‍♀️ Yes they have to fit me in somewhere else (if they don't kick me out that is).

I just feel I was doing the responsible thing not attending with a stuffy nose and sneezing. The waiting room is always full of older people and I just don't want to spread my germs!

I would just chalk it up as one of those things - it's frustrating for everyone when these things happen.

You're unwell and are trying to do the right thing, but equally in their eyes you "only" have a cold and it's a last minute cancellation they can't fill.

Neither of you is right or wrong.

Yeah you are right. I just feel stressed about it when I've always attended appointments etc and they can see it that.. I just don't think I should go in with symptoms after one negative lft. I had covid early December and it was very cold like, like this. I plan to do either do a pcr or maybe just keep doing lft's 🤷‍♀️ I don't really have anywhere to be this week!

I don't feel too bad but My nose is blocked and I didn't fancy a hygienist appointment with a blocked nose and trying to breathe through my mouth anyway covid aside 😪

I think it was a poor response from the dentist.

I had an appointment for this afternoon but DH has tested positive this morning. Phoned the dentist and they straight away booked another appointment. I apologised but she said not to worry and it is happening all the time and better to err on ths side of caution.

When I was working I used to hate people coming in with 'just a cold' because before you knew where you were the whole office had it. Surely they would not want to get colds either.

Hope you feel better soon.
