URGENT HELP PLEASE - flying tomorrow but Covid pass is in married name, passport and ticket in maiden name

I didnt realise this would be such an issue. I thought I'd read somewhere that I could take my marriage certificate with me, but when I tried to upload my covid pass earlier it was rejected and now I've read that you'd have to allow 2 weeks to have name changed on nhs records and a new covid pass. I'm panicking majorly.

this process has been so stressful, ensuring we don't get covid, doing the test the night before, and uploading everything. I'm 7 months pregnant and the stress is really affecting me..

can anyone tell me any positive stories of being able to use marriage certificate flying on Virgin to America.

Thanks

@NewNormalLife that's fab news - enjoy your holiday and relax

Tuaca · 28/03/2022 13:06

I'm glad it's sorted. Just wanted to point out that if women didn't feel the need to give up their name and take a man's name like she's his property, then none of this would have been a problem Smile

Hey All!
im flying to Miami via Heathrow on Virgin,I only jus realised yesterday my passport and covid pass surnames don’t match.
I’ve seen people say you can call GP and they change it on the day mine were rubbish and say they can’t !
I have my marriage certificate, anybody hot any other smart ideas ?
I can’t get hold of virgin !!!
thanks in advance x

NewNormalLife · 29/04/2022 09:26

oh gosh I can imagine the stress after what I went through before. Virgin on twitter said I wouldn't be able to travel unless it was changed but someone at the airport might have a different view? its a big gamble though.

The practice manager at my gp agreed to change my name to my maiden name when I showed her my passport. it took a few hours to be updated on thr nhs website though which was a very stressful wait.

Good luck I hope you sort something out.

Hey hey hey !!!
I went to the GP at 9am this morning and the lady there was just amazing no issues just took my passport and amended the details . She even printed a copy of my vaccinations of for me in my Maiden name ! I actually can’t end back with a massive box of chocolates for her !

I was so stressed I haven’t slept in two nights or eaten. I’ve obviously been checking the app all day and nothing BUT I just went on and it’s changed !!!!!!

I don’t know how you managed dealing with this being 7 months pregnant -well done you !!!!
Another happy ending !!!

Brilliant. Really glad they managed to correct it for you. Now you can enjoy your holiday. It seems such a ridiculous rule not to allow marriage certificates. Hopefully the rules change some time soon.

I just don’t understand as other airlines are accepting it -who do virgin think they are lol
but I’ll be sure having the sleep of my life today !

NutsaremyNemesis · 29/04/2022 17:53

I am in the same boat and have travelled three times without issue - took all my documents including my marriage certificate but no one batted an eyelid. Two business class long haul trips (BA and KLM) and a short Sleazy Jet hop to Spain…. So maybe it’s a case of turning up and it being fine? I don’t think I prefilled any forms (because it was work and we travel last minute due to the nature of the business). Good luck 🤞

TalbotTrinity · 30/04/2022 06:46

Have you tried your GP? Best way going forward xx

ChocBloc · 30/04/2022 07:04

What a ridiculous situation. Can believe no one thought hang on what if someone changes their name. I guess it wasn't designed by anyone who had.

RishiRich · 30/04/2022 07:07

Honestly don't worry about it. I've flown 3 times in the last 6 months with a different name on my covid pass and my passport and it's never been an issue. The online document checker gets there eventually, just needs a human to x-check it. Have a lovely holiday!

RishiRich · 30/04/2022 07:09

Oops, just seen it was all sorted. I flew with Virgin last month and it wasn't a problem at all, weird that they told you otherwise.

Hi, I had this same issue and no one even checked, or noticed the different names at either airport! Good luck.

Borris · 30/04/2022 08:05

Glad you’re sorted.

I had similar as most my documents are in maiden name but passport still in married name. When my divorce came through I thought I’d leave it as still has 3 years to run rather than pay to change.

I just took my decree absolut and explained the situation and it was fine

@NewNormalLife
morning lovely!
did you do the vivid tests virgin recommended or went elsewhere ?

NewNormalLife · 02/05/2022 14:10

Hi @TalbotTrinity No we did the supervised lateral flow tests by Qured.
