Very, very trivial and unimportant, but just out of interest...

Two of DD's friends (brothers) were over here this afternoon. I've just noticed they both left their jumpers behind when they were collected. Both jumpers are noticeably dirty.

Would you:
a.) Give them back tomorrow unwashed, or
b.) Wash them and give them back Tuesday?
I'm not going to be able to wash and dry them overnight because I can't be arsed.
The boys are 5 and 6. I've just added that because I know someone will ask.

I'd put them in a carrier bag and hand them back tomorrow.

Readyforspring · 27/03/2022 22:10

Depends of their dm would be offended you washed them. If it was any of our close friends dcs, i would (and iron)
But if someone i didnt know id prob return in the morning.

I also wouldn't mind if someone chucked on of the dcs things in the wash

Ragruggers · 27/03/2022 22:11

Put them in a bag and hand them back, perhaps they are play clothes.Just say the boys left their jumpers behind.

SittingontheSidelines · 27/03/2022 22:11

I wouldn't expect someone else to wash them but I would like them back the next day. People can be very fussy about types of soap powder/using fabric conditioner.

JurassicPerks · 27/03/2022 22:19

Just return them ASAP.
If you'd washed them, we'd have to rewash DS2's before he could wear it.
That said, they probably wouldn't wear them until next weekend now anyway.

TokyoSushi · 27/03/2022 22:21

I'd just fold them and give them back tomorrow.

Theala · 28/03/2022 06:57

OK, thanks all. Folding and sticking them in a bag this morning.

Message her and say you’ve got them and can pop them in the wash with you DC clothes tomorrow if she’d like and return Tuesday or give back tomorrow she will no doubt say please don’t worry about washing them

If they ended up being dirty thanks to them playing at my house - then yes, I would wash them.

DD once had a friend over and dough and slime ended over both girls. So I gave her friend a pair of leggings and washed it. I got the leggings back clean and her friend got hers back slime free.

Ryderneedsus · 28/03/2022 09:03

If you washed them in the wrong powder it could cause an allergy.

Comedycook · 28/03/2022 09:06

I'd wash them but say I'd washed them without realising it was theirs.

HaveringWavering · 28/03/2022 09:28

Just give them back unwashed. Would not even cross my mind to wash them.

reluctantbrit · 28/03/2022 11:18

@Ryderneedsus

If you washed them in the wrong powder it could cause an allergy.
If my child had issues with washing powder, I would thank the parent for washing and just wash it again.

We were given back forgotten water bottles the parent kindly washed and even refilled but they didn’t know that DD would only drink if I added ice cubes into her bottle. So I took it home and watered the plants with it.

Mummy1608 · 28/03/2022 11:24

Put them dirty in a knotted plastic bag and hand it back like that. That's what the school would do if they were left there.

123cupcake4 · 28/03/2022 11:29

If I was seeing her tomorrow, don't wash. If I k ow I won't see her for a while I would add to the washing. No ones going to be offended.

livelyredjellybean · 28/03/2022 20:01

I washed my farriers hoodie after he left it when trimming my horse. I managed to shrink the bastard thing so bought him a new one! Very expensive trim and I won’t wash other peoples stuff now.
