(Lighthearted) About really loved up couple at comedy show last night?

Went to see Ed Byrne last night. Couple sitting next to me - woman was next to me. Man had his hand on her knee and lower thigh (she was wearing a shortish dress) the whole time. I could see this hand constantly stroking and caressing her leg out of the corner of my eye even when looking straight at the stage. They were snuggled up really close the whole time. Why do people go to shows and think they can behave like they do on their sofa at home?

The response at the end would have been to ask the man if his mother knew he was out tonight. You missed an opportunity, OP.

I could see them without moving my head, so they were in my line of sight. We weren’t in the stalls, we were in an upper seating tier at an angle to the stage. So I could see the stage and the fondling hand.

He touched her LEG in PUBLIC?! I think you should report to 101

Ginandcrispsarebliss · 27/03/2022 16:26

Before the first lockdown I went to see a really good Band. Standing in front of us were a young couple in their twenties and they just kept on snogging and squeezing each other. At first my friends and I were like, they are so cute together. Wished we could go back in time with our OH's. (We are alot older) and after 20 years of marriage don't snog in publicGrin after what seemed like hours but was only minutes, it was really off putting so we moved to enjoy the music. Not that we were jealous. (Not much anywayWink)

@HelenWick

I get it OP, makes me cringe. I went to a spa a few weeks back and a woman was straddling a man in the hot tub and bouncing up and down. Grim. Reminds me of animals marking their territory.
That’s not really the same as a hand on a leg.
Carpy899 · 27/03/2022 16:40

PDA makes me feel anxious 🤣

ComtesseDeSpair · 27/03/2022 16:48

I’d imagine they don’t really care what random strangers think - and good for them. Life is much more enjoyable once you realise other people’s opinions don’t matter and just get on with doing as you please.

neverbeenskiing · 27/03/2022 16:50

I am genuinely not prudish but really ott PDAs make me cringe

How is a hand on a leg "really ott" though?? I don't think I'd even notice it, let alone get worked up enough to post a thread about it.

Big difference between a hand on the leg and caressing a thigh in a really intimate way...the latter, I do not want to have in my eyeline.

Fair enough but what the OP is describing is in no way ott

Yabu for going to see Ed Byrne as he's not even funny

He was actually very funny, very sweary but not smutty.

And yes as pps have said it wasn’t just a hand on a leg but a hand constantly moving up and down her bare thigh.

Gosh you're a right downer.

Cheeseandlobster · 28/03/2022 00:36

Well stop staring then. They were not being indecent but you just sound prudish and a bit jealous tbh

Sunnytwobridges · 28/03/2022 00:42

I’m actually jealous. I miss the days when a man would caress my leg while out 😂

ThinWomansBrain · 28/03/2022 00:49

I'd be more concerned about paying to see a comedian that finds rape jokes funny TBH.

AuntTwacky · 28/03/2022 01:00

@VyeBrator

Blimey, you sound like my great-grandmother.

AuntTwacky · 28/03/2022 01:03

Jealous? Prudish? Sounds pretty harmless to me...

Who said comedian finds rape jokes funny?

Cocycola · 28/03/2022 01:18

From your post, they don't sound too bad, although I don't like pdas of ANY kind, even the tamest ones so I can also get why you didn't like this.

Was it maybe because you anticipated him caressing her leg to go further and this is what unnerved you?

ThinWomansBrain · 28/03/2022 08:14

BBC show recording towards the end of last year - said "comedian" was making rape jokes - I have been to see him live in the past, but wouldn't do so again.

I haven’t heard the rape jokes. What was the BBC show recording?

ThinWomansBrain · 28/03/2022 22:41

I expect they were edited out, certainly not broadcastable - about two hours of recording for a half hour show.
