To ask what you’d plan for your Mother’s Day?

Young kids (under 7), no partner so Mother’s Day is mine to what I want of it (thinking positively). No family nearby. Seems a bit sad to book a meal out and don’t have the money at the moment.
What would you plan ?

Bake your favourite treat (just made myself millionaire shortbread cooling in advance!) and go for a nice walk together to enjoy the sunshine? Xx

ModerationInEverything · 25/03/2022 19:16

Something fun to do together and something easy for dinner. A movie and a pizza? National trust and a picnic? Walk on the beach then fish and chips?

SheKnowsWithoutKnowing · 25/03/2022 19:17

I'm going to treat us all to a takeaway, have a night off from cooking. Same here no partner or family around.

Smarshian · 25/03/2022 19:19

We are doing walk on the beach and fish and chips - easy and relaxed

yoyo1234 · 25/03/2022 19:19

Baking a cake all together may be fun

youdoyoutoday · 25/03/2022 19:20

Visit the park, pizza and a movie in front of the TV with popcorn!

--A spa day with not a child in sight

I mean...Plan easy lunch/ dinner so not lots of cooking and washing up to do on the day. Get a few treats in too like my fave choccies or biscuits.
Then I'd probably go for a walk somewhere with the kids where I could grab a good coffee to walk around with while they run off some energy then home for some movies and chill time ☺️

Doje · 25/03/2022 19:23

I'd have a lie in and get the kids to watch telly till 9ish (depending on their ages). Then have a nice coffee and make pancakes for everyone.

Big walk with a few sandwiches finishing at a supermarket so I could buy whatever I fancied for dinner. Board games followed by family movie (of my choice). Kids in bed nice and early!

picklemewalnuts · 25/03/2022 19:25

I'm going to the poshest bakery in my area and buying some nice cakes.
I looked at an afternoon tea, but thought why would I pay for sandwiches and a scone?

Sceptre86 · 25/03/2022 19:26

How about soft play, the park or going to an adventure playground? You could get an ice cream and then if finances allow order a pizza or bung a frozen one in the oven. We are doing soft play or the park followed by a Nandos, nothing super exciting but a chilled out day. Hope you have a lovely mother's day.

Howdiditgetsobad · 25/03/2022 19:31

Our plan is - make pancakes for breakfast. then pack up lunch to take for a walk and picnic, probably at a local National Trust site. Then head home for tea, kids in bed and relax! Not exciting but it will do me!

anotherneutralname · 25/03/2022 19:32

We will be isolating. I've had a cream tea delivered must not touch the clotted cream in fridge til Sunday and it will be my turn to hog the TV remote Grin

Our original plans were a walk somewhere with a good playground AND a good coffee stall. We could re-create the second part in the garden I suppose!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 25/03/2022 19:33

Just wondering the same thing! Wasn’t due to have the kids this weekend, but now will do from Sunday middayish.

Not sure whether to go out or what!

SomePosters · 25/03/2022 19:41

Breakfast in bed made by dd.
We have salmon, cream cheese and croissants for special occasion breakfasts as she has been able to prepare that without help for some years now.

We will bake a cake together and watch a movie that I choose and I’ll help her make dinner as she’s not quite ready to do all the steps herself

We will also have a dance party as I love to dance, we watch different instructional videos and try things, it’s very silly and not serious at but is lots of fun

Been a single parent for a decade and I know how to make good stuff happen for myself

sophienelisse · 25/03/2022 19:42

Picky bit tea with the kids, everyone chooses their favourite bits and movies.

Pj day and blankets on the sofa.

Theblackdogagain · 25/03/2022 19:56

I had a buysgift voucher that was running out. Wanted to spend it on something for me as its my voucher, but I could get an hour in a farm cuddling animals for the four of us. With a nice breakfast and dinner that's me!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 25/03/2022 21:00

Have decided on lunch out but at a local cafe in a park rather than anything more elaborate

MrsBean21 · 25/03/2022 21:08

Just me and my little ones. My 4 year old wants us to do a tea party with her toys and my 2 year old wants to bring his dinosaurs along. So I’ve bought some nice cakes and other treats today and we will make our favourite sandwiches and we’ll have a picnic in the garden.

Wingingit15 · 26/03/2022 09:08

Thanks - some great ideas. I think you always think everyone is having some flash day whereas actually the simpler things are often the nicest aren’t they 😄

We will be having a lazy morning, my DM is coming over for a mac and cheese and wine lunch. Her DP will take the kids for a walk so we can drink said wine. If I’m lucky I’ll get an hour gardening later which is head space time and rare!

This said, I do have a ‘D’H. Said H is currently lying on a sunlounger in a five star hotel in Mexico after going on a hobby-holiday with his walking pals, none of which have young kids. No consideration of it being Mother’s Day and apparently I’m ‘making a fuss’ when I said I wasn’t happy. This isn’t the first time this has happened and may well be the last…..Angry
