On The Beach - anyone else used this awful travel agent?

We've booked a 4k holiday with them in June and all was fine until we just looked at our booking as saw that they changed our flights to the day before! We're meant to be flying Saturday to Saturday as that's when our hotel is booked, but they've changed our flights to the Friday to Friday without consulting us or explaining why. The worst part is that they will not respond to any of my messages via Facebook (seems to be the only way to contact them), and I've been messaging them constantly for a week!

I'm so stressed and upset, I think we've been had by this company.

Anyone else had problems? And if so how can I contact them??

Anyone know who I could report them to? I have no idea where to start.

Thank you xxx

@Bunty55

OP. After having seen those dreadful adverts on the TV with the 'Matilda' family, I would not touch them with a barge pole. I'm sorry you chose them for your holiday.
Same here, I wouldn't go near them for that advert alone...STOP USING BLOODY CHRISTMAS SONGS! Sorry OP I know I'm not helping your problem Blush

If they have a FB presence, go raise hell there! Get your friends to like, comment and share. They’re on Twitter too, @OntheBeachUK. Looks like a few unhappy people on there too. Go raise hell on social media, it tends to light a fire under them and you get a speedier response and hopefully a resolution.

We have used on the beach for years,never had a problem,quick to refund when 2 holidays were cancelled due to covid,contacts are in your booking information on the app.

Suzi888 · 25/03/2022 13:35

I’ve used them. No problems had a full refund. The Facebook thing is annoying though.
You can’t be the only person affected, have you looked at fb? They usually post there and then comment.

Too late for this year but next time look at VRBO, if you book one of their premier properties you can cancel a month before you travel for a full refund.

Your refund is issued based on the property's cancellation policy. If you cancel your reservation and are within the window to receive a 100% refund, the service fee will be refunded to you automatically when the cancellation is confirmed. Refunds take up to 5 days to appear in your account.

Op

How did you find out the flight had been changed?!

Very similar to travel republic But accommodations. Only Not the flight
Comfortableatlast · 25/03/2022 14:08

Yes sorry should have made that clear.

implantreplace · 25/03/2022 14:08

@Comfortableatlast

Vrbo doesn’t do flights
It’s a holiday letting company

StrangeCondition · 25/03/2022 14:08

I'm a member of a FB group for a place I go to fairly frequently, there's been lots of reports of poor service from OTB in that country/resort alone. I hope you get it sorted OP

implantreplace · 25/03/2022 14:09

My Air bnb - 48 hours hour full cancellation refund so a month looks a bit tight!

earsup · 25/03/2022 14:19

I looked at them once but so many extras that was cheaper to use jet 2 etc or tui....also i think they are a third party agent to dodge regulations and often use ryanair for their flights so never went ahead.

Electriq · 25/03/2022 14:24

I was booked with them when Monarch went under, they were great and we got a refund promptly and rebooked.

CellophaneFlower · 25/03/2022 14:24

OP have you tried contacting them on Twitter? Sorry if you have and I've missed it. I've had a lot of success on there when I've been ignored by companies through other means.

Comfortableatlast · 25/03/2022 14:24

I have already addressed that.

raspberryjamchicken · 25/03/2022 14:32

I'm surprised so many posters don't seem to think this is a problem. Maybe it's because I usually use the ferry so haven't flown anywhere for years but I would be so pissed off if I had booked a holiday for certain dates then the dates were changed so I couldn't go. Even if you get a refund there might not be as much availability now to rebook another holiday on th correct dates. It puts me off doing a package holiday in the future.

TrashyPanda · 25/03/2022 14:57

@GloriaSilver

On the Beach is after a Chris Rea song surely? Think they used it in advert at some point.
It’s a very famous novel about the aftermath of nuclear war. It’s very bleak. There is no hope. Everyone dies.

Two film versions also.

I find most companies who like to ignore emails respond much better when you tweet them publicly on Twitter.

Turmerictolly · 26/03/2022 08:05

On the beach are our go to company for booking beach holidays. Used them many times and never had any issues.
