Aibu to want to find a pink jumper for my son that doesn’t scream ‘look how cool and modern I am, I dress my son in pink’

Inspired by another thread, my toddler Is expressing a preference for pink, he picks the pink plate/bib/bowl etc every time. I’d like to get him some clothes with some pink in as he likes it so much. However. It’s hard to find nice unisex pink things!! Help me mumsnet, I’ll happily buy him stuff from a girl clothes section, just don’t want to them to be so pink it looks like I’m trying to make a dodgy pseudo political statement when I really just want my kid to have some choice.

So please. Give me your recommendations!

Pink sweat shirt?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 24/03/2022 17:17

Just go to next - they have lots of boys clothes in salmon pink, hot pink, especially in summer.

CruCru · 24/03/2022 17:18

This is nice

CruCru · 24/03/2022 17:20

Or this?

Yeah next is good, a sort of dusky pink or salmon works well, it's not so girly iyswim.

Theblackdogagain · 24/03/2022 17:23

H&m used to do a mixture of colours. I've a son who likes pink and as a small boy I found dairy but it's getting harder as he gets older. I know I can get pink mens shirts so just few years until he fits. For what it's worth I hate the cour pink but it's always been his favourite!

Look at Zara. They often have pink sweatshirts in nice shapes. I size up for DS at Zara

Boden sometimes -my son has a lovely pink tee with a vivid dinosaur volcano picture on it, and one of the girls sock packs. Next worth looking at, again my sons have a few things from the girls range in nice prints. Indy brands, people who can sew are the other source, but I did have to wait a while until I saw the right print to order them trousers in. They loved their pink watermelon print harem trousers though! I’m not in the uk anymore but a friend also made them trousers with an icecream print with pink in it on a bright blue background. And of course your standard boys pink shirts, coral/ salmon/ baby pink chino shorts.

My son is 7 and has a few boys pink tops. No one bats an eyelid.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/03/2022 17:41

H&m has a reasonable selection of pink clothes. I'd happily put my son in any of these...

@Teenylittlefella that Dino sweatshirt is gorgeous but not available in his size, thanks though!

Thanks everyone ok Zara and H&M seem on the right track, the hot pink is just not for me, I like those kind of faded ones and that shade will match in with the rest of his wardrobe a lot better

H and M have some lovely peachy hued boys things.

Sailorsusan · 24/03/2022 17:55

We had a deep pink cotton top from Boden which I used for both kids, because it was a nice top.

I dont have to shop for childrens clothes now, but there seems to be all sorts of colours for boys and girls these days, as kids tend to be quite picky in their choices of styles and colour themes now.. If you can knit, you can get some wool colours in all shades of pink, and have some original styles to wear.

Try Kidly- they have 3 for 2 offers on frequently and the stuff is properly gender neutral (ie the pink stuff isn’t cut tighter or shorter).

Laniania · 24/03/2022 18:40

My son used to have a lovely pink jumper from H&M, might be worth checking them out.

Laniania · 24/03/2022 18:41

Oops should have read more carefully...

Onlyforcake · 24/03/2022 19:06

I got a nice pink / white, blue white and green/ white stripe cotton shirt from NEXT just the other day for me son. It was in the girls section, but it looks great for summer and will go with my son's denim shorts.

Polo shirts tend to come in all the colours too, nice unisex style.

Next also tend to have a couple of basic t shirts in pink in the boys section, so not cut too slim or cropped (which I didn't like for my girls to wear for playing in anyway)

Onlyforcake · 24/03/2022 19:11

Sorry I couldn't find a link. I know it's not all pink. But it will go well with other pink items, i think (?) I'm not very good at matching stuff.

Good for you. I tend to be gender critical but I think it’s wrong to promote this whole idea that certain colors are only for girls. There is a lot of resort type wear in pinks and pastels for boys, maybe try searching online for brands like Ralph Lauren.
