Would love to splash out

But being the dimwit I am
Did not realise with full charge they only last a few hours. ?? Is this correct?

redredredredlorry · 23/03/2022 22:22

The pods themselves yes only last a few hours, but the case holds quite a few recharges and it's very quick so I can't say I've ever had an issue with them.

Queenie6655 · 23/03/2022 22:22

Ah ok

So charge the case and have it with you?

Sorry for stupid question

OP posts:
SallyMcNally · 23/03/2022 22:31

Yeah. The case fully charges the buds in about 15 mins, and holds a couple of charges. The only times they have run out for me tends to be when I have forgotten to charge the case or on a very long (London-Aberdeen) train ride. Usually you take them on an off enough that they stay working fine.

TinySaltLick · 23/03/2022 23:06

Wireless earbuds tend to work that way, you charge the case and the case then charges the buds as mentioned above. You always have the case as you need it to store them when not wearing.

There are better options for the money if you can prise yourself away from the droopy shape of the apple ones

TellySavalashairbrush · 23/03/2022 23:13

I bought myself a £15 pretend pair of iPods earlier this week just to see if I liked them. I really don’t! Much prefer my over the head Beats as they feel so much more secure. Glad I didn’t splash out on the real iPods to be honest.

Queenie6655 · 24/03/2022 03:21

So so useful thank you

So they come with the case when I buy them?

OP posts:
NeverForgetYourDreams · 24/03/2022 04:07

Yeah they do. I went for the wired charging ones as much cheaper than wireless charging ones. Just have to plug case in every now and again

I use for work and the charge lasts ages. I only wear one so I can still hear things around me when I'm on phone during work hours and just swap them over if one battery dies. Have them in all day once a week and not had a dead battery yet.

DarkDarkNight · 24/03/2022 06:50

I would recommend the Pro Version as they have a noise cancellation function.

rwalker · 24/03/2022 07:02

I always thought they were overpriced and waste of money .
In lockdown seen my arse and started running again not paying gym memberships spent money on them.
Absolute game changer love them find battery life good and recharge quickly from case .
You can get older model now for about £100 thought they were expensive but had them 2 years and going strong . Got a draw full of shit £10 headphones so in the long run not more expensive

Not sure it is totally reasonable to discount a product following a review of a cheap knock off?! Quite a lot of engineering goes into a little pair of headphones so you do get what you pay for to a degree (minus my previous apple comment)

In normal use they are fine. For sports I would get the bose soundsport ones if them being secure is an issue.

I would also get the top end Sony ones over the apple ones.

Mamibaer · 24/03/2022 08:26

These are the best things I’ve ever bought myself. I get so much done just listening to podcasts and moving around the house. Mine accidentally went through the wash as well (including charging case) and survived!

Appolonia · 24/03/2022 08:41

I have the iPods pro and rarely use them.

It is so annoying that there is no button to change the volume. When out for a walk, the ambient noise changes, so I like to be able to quickly put the volume up or down a bit. Saying "hey Siri" to do it is really annoying, since Siri mishears half the time.

The noise cancelling function is awful. You can still hear background noise, but it sounds like it's coming from inside your head.

I haven't used them in months - just use my normal wired ones.

BloodyloveGeorge · 24/03/2022 09:02

I have the Pro ones and they are ace as they’re noise cancelling. I’ve never run out of charge on them, and yes you would always have the case with you as that’s where you put them when you take them out otherwise you could easily lose them.

BloodyloveGeorge · 24/03/2022 09:03

Putting them in the case charges them super fast so I think that’s why I have never run out of juice on them.

thecapitalsunited · 24/03/2022 09:07

Quality wise there are better options than the Apple ones but I love the way they seamlessly switch between my laptop, phone, watch, iPad and TV. Obviously this only works if you are a full Apple household but it is so much nicer to use than my previous set which were much more expensive. Now I use my old pair for work and my Apple ones with my personal devices so I never have to mess about connecting earphones when I switch devices ever again.

EricScrantona · 24/03/2022 09:11

I have an iPhone and Apple Watch so you could say I'm an Apple person. I can't for the life of me justify the cost of the headphones.

Amazon do plenty of "not quite as good but significantly cheaper" headphones. They will get lost at some point and better to lose £30 headphones that £170+ headphones.

Mine cost less than £30 and the only thing they don't do is pause when I take them out of my ear but that's not a hardship. I have some Enacfire and some that I think are Tozo.

I totally agree, they are not worth the money when you can pick up great ones for £30ish.
JaceLancs · 24/03/2022 09:17

I tried cheaper ones and was very disappointed
I love my apple ones - even persuaded work to buy me an extra set for all the zoom meetings!
The battery life is far longer than it says and you get about 4 bud charges from the case before needing to charge the case
Also they often don’t lose charge at same time so I carry on with just one and pop other in case for a quick boost and then swap
My only issue is losing them as I fall asleep listening to catch up tv - I also lost a complete pair with case at work (suspect someone stole them)

WordleGirdle · 24/03/2022 09:19

I've got a pair of Earfun earbuds - absolutely no complaints and half the price of airpods.

mizzo · 24/03/2022 09:26

I love mine. DH bought them for me, I had no idea they cost so much.
They did feel a bit odd at first, quite big for my ears but I'm used to them now.
As pp said my main issue is losing them when I fall asleep listening to something.

TheVanguardSix · 24/03/2022 09:43

Oh they're brilliant! They've actually never died on me because when you're not using them, they're in their charging case which I hardly have to charge. It's just not an issue. OP, it's Apple. It goes without saying they're worth the money.

ASaucerfulOfSecrets · 24/03/2022 09:45

Have a look at the Soundpeats T2. I bought them as I have a tendency to knacker expensive air pods.
They were about £40 from Amazon, have proper noise cancelling and DS and I compared them with his air pods and concluded they were the same sound quality, if not slightly better for a lot less money. Obviously the style of the bud is different though.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/03/2022 10:34

I think I actually love my airpods more than my OH! Well maybe that's a slight exaggeration, my air pods can't cook!

Seriously, game changer for me. The seamless interchange between all apple devices is great. I can go out running without my phone, just using my apple watch. They transfer from the car to my pods without losing a call, and never fall out, even when running.

Charge wise I'd say they last 5 hours without charging but a full charge in the case is super quick - 15 minutes maybe?

I've tried cheap alternatives and really, these are streets ahead.

Ah see that was my thinking

So many good reviews though!!!

I love my pro versions.

Wasn't sure I was going to like them but I really do. I use them primarily to listen to audiobooks when I sew. Noise cancelling is great to drown out the sewing machine and I no longer worry about sewing my headphone cable into whatever I'm making.

For exercise though I love my aeropex bone conduction headphones. Running/ cycling outside I really value hearing the traffic around me.
