Just wondering if you were glad you got yours. Is it nice to walk on?

We went for SPC Vinyl floor and completely love it it's got an unlimited life time warranty for residential, feels warm under foot and quiet. It also looks and cleans amazing. Wink

We have LVT throughout the house and love it.

I've had Karndean throughout the ground floor since we moved in 26 years year old and have only replaced it at the end of last year with a mix of Karndean tiles in the kitchen area and Amtico planks in the rest of the house. We have also had Amtico fitted on our stairs, around the gallery landing and in the bedrooms too.

If it's not laying flat then your fitters aren't very good. You need need an LVT expert that's been properly trained and understands how to prepare the floor, level the latex sub floor and lay the tiles and planks to best effect considering the sight lines etc.

HesGotHisTrombole · 23/03/2022 21:03

Amtico all through here. I love it so much!!

If it’s not flat that’s crap fitters. Mine is beautifully laid, properly flat. Concrete floor was properly screeded; upstairs was laid with plywood before fitting.

AuraBora · 23/03/2022 21:05

We had Karndean fitted last year (classic oak colour) throughout the whole ground floor and I really love it. It looks smart, is nice to walk on and super easy to clean.
Agree with PP that you need good fitter and to establish what prep work needs to be done first - and that needs to be done thoroughly. We had old concrete and screed that needed to be levelled out with self levelling latex. If that hadn't been done I doubt it would look as good.

LegallyBlende · 23/03/2022 21:06

Yes, really nice to walk on, that's the advantage imo. Tiles would look nicer but be way colder and harder.

LegallyBlende · 23/03/2022 21:07

Ours is down a while so has some marks.

PositiveLife · 23/03/2022 21:07

Love mine. Its in my bedroom and is much more insulating than the carpet that was previously in there.
Mine doesn't 'click' together though. It's like small, thin lino tiles. I was advised to call the fitter back if any started lifting in the first week.

Clementine8 · 23/03/2022 21:09

Same as everyone else seems to say, ours looks great and with young kids its easy to maintain. We had someone recommended that specialises in lvt fitting and he’s done a great job

Elphame · 23/03/2022 21:10

I had Karndean fitted in the dining hall nearly 20 years ago and despite being a high traffic area with dogs and children it still looks great.

It does need to be professionally fitted. There is a lot of self levelling latex under mine as the original flagstones were very uneven.

Karndean isn’t LVT so I’m not sure why so many people are telling you how much they love it.

Maybe you should tell Karndean that, as they call it LVT.

I had it put down just over a year ago, OP, and love it. Just make sure you get it put down by an approved specialist that sells and lays a lot of it. It's not a job for a random carpet fitter.

eleflump · 23/03/2022 21:24

We have Karndean in the kitchen (it's described as LVT on their website).

It's been down six months and no issues so far with marks or scratches. It feels warmer than the tiles that were down before but does feel quite hard beneath your feet if that is something that might bother you.

TheHoptimist · 23/03/2022 21:36

How old is the house?
If it is a period property then it will devalue it.

TonkaTruckduck · 23/03/2022 21:42

Absolutely love mine, had the entire downstairs done a few years ago and it's holding up beautifully.

Chloemol · 23/03/2022 21:42

Karndean in the bathroom, another make in the hall, bit great

As others have said if it’s not flat it’s bad fitters. Both of mine had the flooring sorted first to make it straight

Chasingsquirrels · 23/03/2022 21:43

Really happy with mine.
Had it laid in the hall around 2009, and then the same in the kitchen, conservatory & utility in 2019.

hulahooper2 · 23/03/2022 21:44

I have moduleo and love it

Hankunamatata · 23/03/2022 21:51

Loved cheaper end lvt from carpet right (still pricey) that we had originally as more like lino, thinner planks, much more forgiving on imperfect floors.

Went for much posher version from special supplier with long warranty on refurb and it's been a disaster. The underfloor has to be pretty much absolutely perfect as tiles are so rigid so lots prep needed. So you need an excellent fitter with lots of experience doing kardean/amtico flooring.

OnTheBenchOfDoom · 23/03/2022 21:59

We have QuickStep LVT in the children's bathroom. Life proof, warm underfoot and still looks good after 5 years.

There are several types of LVT, glue down, loose lay (no glue or anything) and click lock which unlike the others has an edge allowing the planks or tiles to be locked together to create a floating floor. Our QuickStep is clicklock, easy to cut and shape around bathroom fittings. Karndean is usually glue down but they do have the loose lay one too.

DarlingDarwin · 24/03/2022 20:23

Thanks all, that’s really given me something to think about!!!
