That sounds about average here in West Midlands- fitted, obviously

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 22/03/2022 12:09

We paid £850 for ours (without lights). It was a local company though. One of the big names quoted us double that

Bagelsandbrie · 22/03/2022 12:09

We paid £1300 for ours without lights.

Teeturtle · 22/03/2022 12:11

I would have thought you could do a little better. Mine was a bit over £1k about five years ago, no lights involved.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 22/03/2022 12:16

I think that about right for a good quality door. When you say lights how big are they? You can get comparison prices from some of the online sites that allow you to design your door.

So a different door pre covid/brexit Grin

I don't think you can compare prices from years ago for different things.

Kego · 22/03/2022 12:20

I don’t think you’re stingy, it IS a lot but also not much above average sadly

Notadramallama · 22/03/2022 12:25

I just paid £800 for one.

ComtesseDeSpair · 22/03/2022 12:26

We paid just shy of £1,500 in 2020, so with rising costs of materials and labour that doesn’t sound out of whack.

Herja · 22/03/2022 12:27

My door broke last year, during the worst of delays.

For a composite door and small window above (in the frame), with no lights, the lowest I was quoted was 2.7k and the highests was 5k (highest were local traders Confused), with a 9 week wait. So, to me, those are decent prices! I had to go for it, due to a non working front door - it wiped me out completely and I cried on purchase. South West.

Justwingingit2005 · 22/03/2022 12:28

A friend paid £2700 for a standard composite door this was after the lockdown when everyone went crazy spending money and she wanted it ASAP.

MoonbeamSprinkles · 22/03/2022 12:44

I’ve just paid £1400 for a standard door, no side windows or lights. Local company and other quotes were roughly the same.

spiderlight · 22/03/2022 12:49

We've just paid slightly more than that, after shopping round a lot and not being able to find a better deal in our area (S Wales), and we had about a ten-week wait for it as well. Love it now it's done though!

Mercurial123 · 22/03/2022 12:49

It's a fair price. I paid £1,500 back in 2016. There are different qualities, mine has a foam filled core which is more energy efficient.

Howabsolutelyfanfuckingtastic · 22/03/2022 12:50

I think that's reasonable and would expect to pay around the £2,000 mark.

pinkpirlie · 22/03/2022 12:51

I just had 5 quotes for plain composite doors, no side lights. Ranged from £1,800 to £2,500.

For Solidoor style - although some were different brands, but I don't recall their names off the top of my head.

Southern West Midlands.

Notbluepeter · 22/03/2022 12:56

I am about to pay £2,800 Inc vat to have front and back solidors. I previously had a quote for £3,600 for the same job so it's worth getting a few quotes.

EIisheva · 22/03/2022 13:05

Thanks so much... I will go for it.

Does Anybody have experience with distinction doors?

We paid £1500 in January for a composite and side light including fitting. Turnaround time was 4 weeks and they also fitted a catflap for free. We are in the north and used a local company.

A larger company in our region wanted £2200 for a uPVC door with no catflap and a 16 week turnaround time!

A larger

Redwineandsunshine · 22/03/2022 13:13

Composite doors have gone up in price quite considerably recently. My husband and I have a small window and door business and everything is so more expensive than 2 years ago. We mostly use Rockdoor and Solidor and the quote you’ve got seems similar to what we’d price, no experience of Distinction Doors though.

Tiredtiredtired100 · 22/03/2022 13:41

Sounds about right. I paid £750 to get someone off FB marketplace to do it. He worked for a large company supplying housing estates who he bought individual doors from at trade price and fitted in the evenings. I was quoted £1500 elsewhere.
