Paying for a trip

A group of 5 friends chatted very loosely about going for a weekend away.
Two days later Friend A messaged the group to say she had booked the train tickets. The chat then went on to discuss accommodation. It turned out a lack of suitable accommodation was available.
Person A attempted to get a refund for the train. Am I unreasonable to think she should have made sure there was accomodation and also she had the agreement of everybody?

Yes YANBU. Very daft of her to go ahead with any firm plans

Yeah Person a is a bit of a fool. I'd be annoyed she has effectively spent "my" money on something without checking ahead I was happy to pay that amount/ was free that weekend.

Had the group agreed you were all going?

Is there really no accommodation available?

A fool and her money are soon parted.

I wouldn't pay her a penny if she asks.

She should have, but I'd reimburse her. If you are all close enough to be going away together then you are all going to sour this, for the cost of train tickets. She gets a warning to never do it again, though.

Yes but train operators are offering book with confidence so if it was advance tickets she'll get a refund in vouchers to use in 12 months if flexible then a full refund
