I’m really confused as I’m very unwell so can’t think properly. Been feeling I’ll since Friday but still went into work as I feel we’re made to feel guilty if we don’t go in. Just done a LFT and it’s positive. Do I still need to get a PCR done? Am I supposed to go into work tomorrow? Do I email my line manager and tell him? I live in England.

Do you not know your work policy on this? You don't need to confirm with a pcr but you should stay off work.

Perfect28 · 20/03/2022 10:02

Your kids should take lfts

LittleBearPad · 20/03/2022 10:02

Test your children as well for one thing.

AllKnowingGerbil · 20/03/2022 10:04

I would report the positive lft at gov.uk

You won't need a pcr now that lft has confirmed

Isolation is advised.

If you were this ill with any other illness would you trek to work? Don't feel pressured by idiot managers who care more about £ than people

After 5 days since symptoms test daily, if you get negative on two days in a row you can mingle again.

Get well soon x

TulipsGarden · 20/03/2022 10:05

You don't need to do a PCR, just report your positive LFT.

Your work and the school must have a policy on Covid isolation? My work and my son's nursery both say to isolate for at least five days and to stay at home if unwell. It sounds like you work somewhere crap that will try to get you into work when positive, but you can't go to work if you feel ill.

AllKnowingGerbil · 20/03/2022 10:05

Yeah the schools won't want your kids attending

Bananabutter · 20/03/2022 10:07

She can work if she wants to. You have no business telling anyone what they should and shouldn’t do.
Mirrorball2022 · 20/03/2022 10:11

You are unwell you don’t go to work. You know it’s covid too. You can’t send your kids to school either and really they should be tested as they are symptomatic too. It’s highly likely they have it. Report your LFT so that’s it’s on your medical record if you have post covid issues. Or need evidence of recent infection

Mirrorball2022 · 20/03/2022 10:12

@Bananabutter she has stated she is unwell and her children are unwell and was ASKING for the advice. The advice given is to stay off work if unwell. Which is still official advice. It’s only the legality which was removed.

Suzie119999 · 20/03/2022 10:15

Can I just confirm - so I still need to do PCR? I work in a school just for context.

RebeccaCloud9 · 20/03/2022 10:15

You've said you are very unwell. So of course you stay off work!

Our work policy (for staff and pupils, given by county council) is to continue to follow the advice from before the latest change - so isolate if positive for up to 10 days, 6 if then testing negative.

RebeccaCloud9 · 20/03/2022 10:16

No, PCR is not needed anymore.

AllKnowingGerbil · 20/03/2022 10:23

Blimey you work in a school and they pressure you to come in? Terrible

Suzie119999 · 20/03/2022 10:24

My daughter is refusing to do LFT. She’s 5. What can I do?

No you don’t need a PCR. You need to report your positive LFT - it takes a couple of min onlines.

Your kids need PCR but you can do a LFT on them and if that’s positive you can just report their positive LFT. If their LFT are negative then you will need a PCR.

SlashBeef · 20/03/2022 10:34

Just do it? My 4 year old 'refuses'. I just get it over with quickly like when he 'refuses' to brush his teeth.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 20/03/2022 10:34

Do whatever you normally do when your 5 year old refuses something. Surely you have a wide range of things to try eg logically discussions or bribery.
SlashBeef · 20/03/2022 10:36

@Duracellbunnywannabe no the kids don't need pcr. You can only get pcr tests now if you are eligible for medication or you have been asked to take a one for research. It's on the website.

That’s not what the government says
www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

dementedpixie · 20/03/2022 10:51

Kids need a PCR. Of course you can still get them
You don't need a follow up PCR if LFT is positive

RebeccaCloud9 · 20/03/2022 10:59

If you need a follow-up PCR test
If you get a positive lateral flow test result, you do not usually need to get a follow-up PCR test. You should only get a follow-up PCR test if:

you’re eligible for new COVID-19 treatments
you’re asked to do so as part of research

RebeccaCloud9 · 20/03/2022 10:59

This is from gov.uk

dementedpixie · 20/03/2022 11:02

You dont need a follow up test. Those with symptoms should have a PCR if they haven't had a positive LFT
