It's a fantastic trip, enjoy it!

I'm besides myself with excitement because I'm finally flying back to UK to see my family for the first time in 3 years at Easter!!!!

Even better, the kids don't know so we're going to wait until they wake up and then hand them fake boarding passes.

We're going to be back in UK for the entire summer but I just couldn't wait any longer to see my family.

I'm trying desperately not to think about it and probably won't be convinced I'm going until the plane starts rumbling down the runway... 🥳🥳🥳

HRTQueen · 19/03/2022 18:00

I’m seeing my dad first time in three years in July (US)

Can’t wait

We did Orlando then Vegas, was amazing.

Dreaming of going back to Orlando, but thats not for a long while yet.

I recommend a website called thedibb for florida planning! Was a really good resource for us!

Hope you have a fab time!

Bananabutter · 19/03/2022 18:55

Orlando is amazing, but if you’re doing DisneyWorld, you need two weeks at it. You can’t just drop in 😅

HRTQueen · 19/03/2022 19:04

I’m not a Harry Potter fan but the ride at universal studios blew me away it was amazing and apparently Disney in Orlando is even better

Which one, there’s quite a few HP rides there 🤣
Santaslittlemelter · 19/03/2022 19:08

Im lying here excited that DH and I have coronavirus because we fly to Spain in 2 weeks and I’m just so glad we’re not positive a week from now. 5 days San Sebastián, no kids.

Bananabutter · 19/03/2022 19:10

@FarmGirl78

Would love a holiday abroad, anywhere would do. In fact I'd even love a week's holiday in the UK. Just can't afford it. My money tree is dying a slow painful death, and with energy bills looming it's just going to get worse. And I feel humbled saying that because there's a lot of folks a lot worse off than me. I can just shut keep my head above water but many can't.
So other people can’t share their excitement just because you can’t afford the same?
HRTQueen · 19/03/2022 19:13

I’m sure only one HP ride at universal studios in LA you go on an adventure

Maybe it’s Universal Studios not Disney 😬 anyway in Florida it’s meant to be even better

Lockeddownagain · 19/03/2022 20:07

We were supposed to go to NYC in 2 weeks but we canceled cos we have an unvaccinated 8yearold then they changed the rules again but not the theatre and there's why we're going . My husband surprised me on our 10th wedding anniversary so we've moved it till just after Xmas and if I think about it I literally well up I'm so excited. We are going to London instead and I've got covid just now so I won't have it then but again so excited to see dd face when we turn up to see wicked 🤣

FairWindClearSailing · 19/03/2022 20:10

Been to both...you'll have a fab time!

It is Universal Studios that has the WWoHP, not Walt Disney World.

We were talking about Orlando so the implication was that you were discussing Universal Orlando (which is also the original home for the WWoHP) not Universal Studios Hollywood 😊

USH has two HP rides: The Forbidden Journey and Flight of the Hippogriff. UO has those two plus Escape From Gringotts and Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure (best ride in Florida).

shabbalabba · 19/03/2022 20:30

@Lockeddownagain that's so unfair 😭 sorry that happened. We will have to see what is available as we go. Neither of my dc are vaccinated and I don't intend on vaccinating them...I'm kinda hoping they might ease the rules as the year goes on.

We are looking at booking Dubai and the Maldives for the honeymoon I didn’t dare book for after our wedding in February due to Omicron scaring the crap out of everyone in the lead up!

We’re planning on going in 5 weeks time and had some personal stresses directly after the wedding so I CANNOT believe I will be leaving the country for the first time in 2 years next month! I’ve never been on a beach holiday abroad but I am so looking forward to sitting on the deck and enjoying my lovely new husband and relaxing after the crazy 2 years we’ve all had!

Sharing in your joy ✈️

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 19/03/2022 21:18

We’re hopefully going to Disneyland Paris in April and I can’t wait! Two holidays cancelled now because of covid and we desperately need to get away.

We haven’t told DD1 yet just in case though…

SummerBluez · 20/03/2022 15:07

@BeingATwatItsABingThing

They've just announced that Disney character hugs are back!!

PinkiOcelot · 20/03/2022 15:23

Ooohhh I don’t blame you for being excited, that sounds great.

Me and DD2 are off for a girly holiday to Corfu in July. I’m excited but feel really apprehensive at the same time.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/03/2022 15:54

It's lovely that loads of people can have long awaited holidays but even with high costs :

For The Love Of God Don't Scrimp On Your Insurance
Especially in the USA .
Check they will pay out direct , not just you pay and claim back unless you have a credit card with available funds that might include new flights .

I went on a weeks holiday and spent 16 days in hospital , 2 surgeries ,

2 days in ITC ,lost count of how many XRAYs , CT scans , medication.
Insurance covered it (and new flight for DH , Medical Flight for me )

Trust me , it is money well spent .

As you were .
Don't forget your suncream .

shabbalabba · 20/03/2022 16:00

@70isaLimitNotaTarget I agree.we are very lucky to have travel insurance included in my annual health insurance policy through work! It covers all of us,thank goodness.

Enjoy op, we are booked for May to sail to New York, so excited. Stupid amount of money but booked it fed up in lockdown so have saved up

gogohm · 20/03/2022 16:09

@70isaLimitNotaTarget

To be honest it's the same for all destinations even france. Calculate the cost of your holiday including insurance and potential emergency costs before you commit, if you can't afford them, go elsewhere/stay in the U.K. where thankfully health cover is universal. Seen too many Facebook pleading posts already this year from uninsured holiday makers. I paid £156 for our cover, it's part of the holiday cost!

HereComesTheMum · 20/03/2022 16:24

OP - yay!!! Enjoy the excitement, nothing beats holiday excitement, and that sounds like a fantastic holiday!

We haven’t done NY with the kids yet (but want to) but they blooming loved Florida a few years ago!

I am bouncing off the walls as we are away at Easter, then have a few covid birthday gifts/trips in the year before two big birthdays to celebrate in the summer.

Enjoy the countdown and the holiday 🥰
