to want more than 1 buggy?

Ok, me and DP have 2 fab kids, DD1 who is 24 months and DD2 who is 8 weeks.

I am a SAHM so we live on 1 income (DPs) so money is tight but we're not painfully or horrifically poor (we have about £50 a week to live on after bills and mortgage payment)

Anyway, when i was pregnant i bought a 2nd hand Phil & Teds from our local newspaper (which i payed for).

The buggy is fab, its great for long days out and long trips etc, however i find it a bit bulky and i sometimes struggle to manage a big buggy and a walking toddler when DD1 decides she wants to walk (not that often).

I also find it a bit bulky when i nip to the shops with the kids or pop out for an hour as i have a tiny fiesta in which it fills my boot, i cant even put the parcel shelf on when its in there.

ANYWAY!!!!......i want a little stroller just to use when im popping out and about for short trips, or nipping here or there (and DD1 can walk), then use the big Phil and Teds for long haul trips or full days out with the kids where then both of them can have a seat each (DD1 still naps in the day)

DP thinks one buggy is enough and i should just make do with it. I feel its ME who has to deal with it all as im the stay at home parent and he works 12 hour days and is never around in the day time to wittiness how difficult it can be.

Am i being unreasonable in wanting a little run around buggy as well as having an expensive big double buggy?

YANBU. I'm the same. I only have one pushchair for my DD, which is part of a travel system, but DP won't let me have another! I think I am being a bit unreasonable though as there's nothing wrong with it really, I just get pushchair envy when I go to mum and baby groups! I want a nice trendy pink one but mines beige and red.

you do need to tip it onto its back wheels to get over tough parts and some peole have had issues wit front wheels snapping off.

dont pay full price for one, check the jane discount website for one. (will go find a link shortly)

yeah is fine for a two year old. grass sand is fine, just make sure you clean wheels after being on sand as it can clog up the workings.

I've got a micralite as my second buggy, I have a sliver cross 3d too)
I got mine from ebaby. It's the old model and was a couple of years old. But I also got the buggysnuggle and the bag to put it in when travelling by plane for £46. Try watching a few, there are bargains to be had.

bbh IMHO whilst your little one is SO small I would not get another buggy. A 'little run around' buggy is only suitable form around 6 months. The other option is to get one that your DD1 can sit in and carry the baby in a sling. What I did when my kids were little was have one travel system (no double buggy) which carried DD1 and DD2 was in a sling. When DD1 wanted to walk and DD2 was a bit older therefore too heavy to carry. I got a lightweight stroller, and buggy board.

TBH I didn't get thepoint of a double buggy anyway, but DD1 was SO little, she sometimes sat on the handlebars of the travel stsyem!!

At my 'worst', I had four buggies. One for every day, one for the tube, one for holidays and one that was a mistake.

Now I've got two - Phil and Ted's tandom and a McClaren lightweight buggy for holidays.

I think it takes time and experimentation to find the right buggy for you.

or look here for £40 or wait a month or so and there are more suitable from 3 months. HOWEVER, I am pretty sure you will find yourself wanting another buggy in another 6 months once DD1 is walking all the time, so if poss hold off until DD2 is 6 months and you will be able to get a lightweight folding stroller that will be perfect

YANBU. I've Jane three wheeler for dog walking, long days out, and a McLaren Quest for holidays, running around the shops, etc. I wouldn't be without either so I know exactly what you mean. Anyway, men have cars and we have buggys, why not have the one that you want.

if you wait a bit and get a lightweight maclaren eg triumph, you can later resell on ebay as they remain popular. so yanbu; show dp the selling price of maclarens on ebay and he will come roun d.

Thanks girls, i will be totally honest with you, i think a teeny weeny bit of it is that compulsive shoe/handbag style craving.

I think i will wait til DD2 is a bit older before going for a run around.

buy a light weight stroller on ebay or in the sale's or MN of course. But avoid quinny zapp - i have one dont use it - cant get along with it

How come I can't fold the techno one handed? Every time I try the matrial at the sides stops the latch from catching, stupid thing.

YANBU I have different buggies for different things, a car one a walking one and a travelling one

i have got 4 at the moment a mpx travel system that my ma got me which gets used for walking the dogs and sometimes walking to town a p3 pramette which gets used the most especially in the car and holidays cos i love it a ziko which i have just sold which will get posted tomorrow and a obaby atlas in red which i got when i needed a buggy there and then which for £50 u can't go wron with it it does everything u want it to lies flat hood raincover small easy to fold which i keep in the attic and get down as and when i want it as teh legrest is broke and we have got one of them ladders built into the hatch so it only takes one minutet to get it down to use but i really want a maclaren techno xt now that i ahve sold my ziko but don't really want t oput a hundred pound on the mothercare card but probably will also when i am in weston i will have the pramette down there and the techno if i get it but u will always find somewhere to use a buggy aslong as u like it i didn't need the mpx when which my ma got me at christmas but i have still used it it stops u from getting bored lol

YANBU - I have an Urban Detour for long walks and a McLaren Quest for the car, tube etc. I also plan to buy a McLaren Techno before DD stops needing a buggy - Why? Because I wish I had bought it instead of the Quest and I wont be having any more kids so I am determined to have this buggy for her. Very Sad I know.

YABU to say that only a Verve will do - hanging on till 6m and getting a stroller is a very good plan.

YANBU - when you think how much you will use it, the cost becomes nothing.

I had (pause for breath) a 3 wheeler for walking/running but hated dd not facing me so bought a pliko prammette to leave in car as too flimsy for walking (10 miles plus a day most times!!) so bought a buzz (hated so bulky and looks like a golf trolley) bought what I should have bought in first place bugaboo cameleon (fab fab fab) thought will get rid of prammette now for buggy bought ziko but hate those stupid floating harnesses, bought zapp didn't like lack of recline so bought zia but sooo flimsy and just bought a Moove which is when I found MN. Bought all brand new bar the moove sold all on ebay, bug for walking, moove for back of car/holidays etc.

Most people I know have 2 buggies, a big one for newborn then a buggy when bub gets a bit older. Buy what you want if you can afford to as when you get the right one(s) you will use it a millionfold. Anyway, your dh is getting a bargain as you bought the p and t so he only has to pay for a buggy !!

p.s. I am a single mum so no-one else to tell me off about buggys though xp would often say is that another buggy and I would still roll my eyes at him as if he hadn't noticed it before...

no yanbu, i have just sold my two big ones and told me dp that the zapp is the final one, but im now wishing id maybe kept one as its relly not suitable for everyday use as dd cant fall asleep very easily in it! i want the new spec luna mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
