3 year old birthday party time - AIBU

Is 4:15 - 5:45 too late for a 3 year old's birthday party?

Majority of child guests will be 3, but there'll be some younger children there between 6 months and 18 months.

A party tea will be served.

Some guests will be travelling up to 45 minutes to the venue.

Worry is largely around whether children will fall asleep on the way back home or be grouchy if they've started to drop naps.

Yes - too late
No - the time is fine

Would’ve been fine for mine at 3. I’d be glad to have dinner sorted for me and they’d be home and ready to go straight into bedtime routine.

In fact I think we had my DS 4th birthday around that kind of time. It was only an issue with one child being overtired, as they get up about 4/5am daily and go to bed by 6 as a result. The rest were totally fine and no one declined because of the time.

Sounds perfect actually as you still have the rest of Saturday to do other stuff. Then a bit of fun and dinner for kids, home for bedtime. Much better than 2-4 or similar where you have awkward gaps of time to fill. Nice bookend to the day.

We have dinner between 5.30-6.30. Who eats at 4pm? That's nuts.

@TeaAndBrie

I would suggest doing the food at the beginning of the party as most children eat closer to 4pm than 6pm.
Not the ones in any families I know.

Yes. Far too late if people are travelling (high chance of late car nap Smile).
A 4pm finish is the latest I'd go for this age group but a lunchtime party would be better.
