Yr 11 GCSE's

Can it be right that GCSE's are starting in May and my daughter is still being taught parts of the curriculum in some subjects? I know covid has caused loss of teaching time but this just seems wrong to me. This is my first child doing GCSE's so its quite possible I'm a bit highly strung about it all!

Are you sure that it’s the first time? Maybe they are revising from the previous years?

20 years teaching experience… this is entirely normal. I always expect to finish at Easter, after that we just focus on exam technique, never actual teaching/re-teaching content.

Maths teacher here. I will be teaching new GCSE and A level content until at least Easter.

This will absolutely be the case, especially if your child's school do a 2 year KS4 - which is the model preferred by ofsted. There is so much content in some subjects that its unavoidable in normal times - add covid into the mix and its almost inevitable.

Thank you all. I will let go of my panic button!

Absolutely normal.

I teach science - we often finish around Easter.
