To take your own teabags to freinds/family's houses

Abit of a lighthearted one...

Ever since having my DDs my taste buds for tea have dramatically changed and I can only tolerate only one type of teabag. Anything else makes me feel so sick its not worth drinking. I take my own teabags to people's houses. Everyone thinks I'm weird. I know I'm weird.

Does anyone else do this?

YABU - no I wouldn't take teabags
YANBU - yes I would/do take teabags

I don't take particular teabags to someone's house for me to have but I keep a specific brand of peppermint tea bags for one friend as that's all she drinks.

She hasn't been here for about two years, Covid and working etc. I probably should dump the old pack and get a new one in case she does visit, the old teabags probably look and taste like dried grass by now.

Ponoka7 · 11/03/2022 18:15

I only drink rooibos, so take my own. I have it black, so milk isn't an issue. I don't see why you would be bothered by someone bringing their own teabags.

notacooldad · 11/03/2022 18:17

I dint but not only does my friend bring her own teabags to my house ( I sont care, non issue) but when we go to cafes and pubs she will pull her teabags out and ask them to make the tea with her tea bag. She isn't being a CF as she is happy to pay what they ask. She just likes the brand or flavour she uses best.

deadlanguage · 11/03/2022 18:18

That’s weird. I only drink mint or green tea so I’m used to people not having it. I don’t take my own, I just have a glass of water instead.

Suzi888 · 11/03/2022 18:18

I take my own (plant) milk 😆
YANBU you have good reason for taking your own T bags

walkingbaby · 11/03/2022 18:19

I do😂 only because none of my friends EVER have peppermint tea and that's all I like. They'll have Earl Grey, Green Tea, the lot lol but no one ever has peppermint so I always take two teabags with me if I know I'm seeing a friend😂

My sister cusses me because she genuinely thinks it's never that serious to bring your own teabag to someone's house. People like my sister just get ignored!

Blueuggboots · 11/03/2022 18:20

@TonkaTruckduck and me!!! But I'll only drink the twinnings one....

lanthanum · 11/03/2022 18:20

There are so many different sorts of fruit/herbal tea nowadays; I've come across lots of people who bring their own. Sometimes if I say I've got fruit teas they take the opportunity to try one they've not tried before, but I certainly wouldn't take offence at them producing their own. I got to the point where I didn't need ordinary tea or milk in for a regular group meeting, as everyone was on herbal teas or black coffee!

alwaysmovingforwards · 11/03/2022 18:20

@Shoxfordian

I don’t but I wouldn’t mind if someone did bring their own
Same here.

A friend did recently. It’s all good 😊

Butchyrestingface · 11/03/2022 18:22

I don't do it but I would no issue accommodating your taste buds if you turned up at mine with your wee stash. Smile

PuppyMonkey · 11/03/2022 18:24

I don’t personally bust totally respect the concept of wanting the teabag you like. I’m very much the same with wine.GrinWine

Pleasegodgotosleep · 11/03/2022 18:26

As tge only tea drinker in a family of coffee drinkers I often have too or there's nothing for me!

FourChimneys · 11/03/2022 18:26

I take my teabags and my slippers when visiting friends. I only like a few types and wouldn't expect them to keep a supply for me. My neighbour has a box of my favourites though, kept just for me on the shelf where their set of keys to our house live.

We have a good selection of teabags here but I wouldn't mind at all if someone brought their own. My neighbour usually arrives with her mug of coffee ready made.

SamMil · 11/03/2022 18:27

I drink decaf so I often bring my own teabags too.

PinkiOcelot · 11/03/2022 18:28

I just like ordinary teabags so I’m not that bothered. However, if I like “special teabags” as above, I probably would.
I wouldn’t be offended if someone brought their own teabags to my house.

Dotdotdotdashdashdashdotdotdot · 11/03/2022 18:29

I take my decaf green tea bags with me. I like what I like.
I’ve even been known to take my own lunch on occasion. DSis told me that was weird Blush as a GF veggie it made sense to me to know what I’m eating, and also save people the headache of trying to sort something for me, happy to be weird.

Foodyscrummyfoodie · 11/03/2022 18:29

I take mine as I have a autoimmune issue and can only drink one type of tea.

UnderTheMoonlightWeDanced · 11/03/2022 18:30

I did this when I was pregnant!! I took decaf and peppermint then after a couple visits a few friends and family actually
Got some in just for me which I thought was lovely!

FavouritePi · 11/03/2022 18:33

I wouldn't mind whatsoever but I have a cupboard full of lots of different types of tea and understand that it's personal preference. I can't stand being offered horrible tea and comments about not drinking much of it.

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 11/03/2022 18:33

Where I go, my teabags follow.

Hmum0fthree · 11/03/2022 18:44

@tillylula I take my own sweetener that's probably even more strange Shock

I take my green tea when visiting.
TheNoodlesIncident · 11/03/2022 19:38

I carry mine in my handbag in this. Maybe I should be embarrassed, but I'm not. Tea is important and I've had too many substandard brews. I don't make it obvious if I can avoid it though.

MrsLegend · 11/03/2022 19:50

Decaff Yorkshire tea bags are the best "normal" tea!

ZoChan · 11/03/2022 19:52

I also do this. DM doesn't drink tea and only has skimmed milk in 🤢 so I take my own tea and milk when we go up.
