Just looking an outside view on this as it can be a bit of a running 'argument' between me and DH

He works shifts I work mon to Fri 9-4

Kids have been sick all week as have we so today first day back to work and school for me and the eldest. DH started work at 2.30

We all slept in as youngest was up during the night so I usually do the school run and baby drop off at Childminders. I was going to be extremely late so asked DH would he do the drop offs he did but huffed and puffed about it texting me while I'm in work saying how he hasn't had a minute to himself all day.

Now the kids were dropped off for 915...he then went for his eye test, the gym
And got ready and left for work at 2pm (he's working to midnight) I do appreciate that he did the school run but I don't feel I have to thank him as I do it everyday and then go to work then finish work and go do the pick ups. I don't see what he has done that is so exceptional or am I just being a bit of a cow?

No you are being reasonable, I’d have texted back and said that, once, in a neutral and factual way and then ignored further comms. He’s probably just tired.

He did it whilst lugging around a penis, so it’s a different struggle that you just wouldn’t understand.

Knew a woman with 3 kids. Both she and her husband worked in the same building mon to fri 9 to 5. She didnt drive. Every morning she got up, got kids up, made their breakfast, tidied up, got kids ready for school. She woke hub up and made his breakfast at the last available moment. One day she had enough, wrote a list of all she did before he had even eaten his breakfast and told him you need to help more. He said,...... I drive them to school and you to work dont I.

Both of you are their parents, you're not contracted for only so many hours/duties per day, so when one is unable to do their shared task the other should step in.

If he is moaning about this one occasion... Does he help get the kids up in the morning ? If not. You must get up at the latest 7.30 and then work to 4 pick kids up take them home feed them, home work, baths, usual home chores etc etc Maybe finish at 8 or 9 PM ? So likely a 12 to 14 hour day. If he doesnt get up and help with the kids in the morning he has an unhindered number of hours to get himself sorted in the morning, go to the gym then work from 2 PM to 12. Including travel, that's about 11 hours work and does nothing for anybody but himself. If he is moaning about working outside his contracted time, sit him down and renegotiate your working time agreement but I think it's really you that needs a new agreement.
