First time hosting a party for a three year old! Is this time reasonable? Or is it too late?

Assuming you mean 11am and not pm, it's fine.

Cookiecrumblepie · 10/03/2022 20:02

Grin yes sorry AM! I was just wondering if it’s too late and everyone would be tired!

Why would it be too late? You mean an awkward time of day? I assume you’ll play some games and have lunch. Sounds fine to me.

Sofiegiraffe · 10/03/2022 20:05

I'm not sure how it's too late? It's the morning.

TulipsGarden · 10/03/2022 20:05

Sounds fine, most three year olds aren't napping or can at least skip a day.

FantasticFebruary · 10/03/2022 20:05

Too late for what?

Troublesometooth · 10/03/2022 20:06

Fine for me, as long as you plan on feeding them.

VerveClique · 10/03/2022 20:06

It’s perfect. Games, food, cake and candles, party bags and off you all pop.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 10/03/2022 20:06

Tired???? Huh

Thatsplentyjack · 10/03/2022 20:07

Why would it be too late? Confused

Svara · 10/03/2022 20:08

Depends how old the invitees are. If some are only two and a half then this may be nap time. Some have an early lunch then are down at 12. If majority are three then I wouldn't worry.

HangOnToYourself · 10/03/2022 20:08

Too late? I was going to assume you thought it was quite early 😳

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 10/03/2022 20:09

I’m organizing my DS’s 3rd birthday party at the moment, and we’re opting for 2:30-6pm. One of his friends still naps from 12-1:30, and I couldn’t face a party before 10am. 😝 Plan is to just have his two best friends from nursery over for a glorified play date. They’ll do whatever 3-year-olds do for a couple of hours (but better… because there will be some low key truck themed decorations haha), then we’ll order pizza and serve a small birthday cake.

Fupoffyagrasshole · 10/03/2022 20:11

That’s really early if anything

Unsureaboutit9 · 10/03/2022 20:11

How could 11am be too late for anything other than breakfast? Assuming your providing some sort of food as it’s obviously lunch time it’s totally fine.

DockOTheBay · 10/03/2022 20:13

I'm guessing you mean for younger kids who might nap? My daughter is nearly 2 and usually naps after lunch, if we had a party i would just push her nap back. Presumably you'll be doing food so they can just go straight to bed when they get home. Or if the parents are really fussy about getting them down at 12 on the dot then they could just leave earlier

TirednessButHappiness · 10/03/2022 20:13

Sounds good to me. DS is about to turn 3 and that’s a good time of day for him - full of energy.

Cookiecrumblepie · 10/03/2022 20:18

Sorry for the confusion! I meant too late in the morning, if children wake at around 7am and nap 1ish will they be grumpy by about noon. So should I start the party earlier say 10am or 10.30?

OP posts:
Cookiecrumblepie · 10/03/2022 20:18

Yes was thinking about naps and energy levels

That's a standard time for the parties DD(3) has been invited to lately! I think by 3, even if some of the kids are still napping, they don't need to be in such rigid timings that it'll matter.

3.5 hours for a 3 yrs olds party? Are you crazy?!
Woollystockings · 10/03/2022 20:23

I still think it’s good with your original timing. They play games, eat lunch, have cake and go home.

byvirtue · 10/03/2022 20:24

Great time! If you want to do games playing first, hide the food. As soon as three year olds see a buffet it’s all over!

Cookiecrumblepie · 10/03/2022 20:25

Thanks for the advice! Yes I was thinking games I’ll provide lunch then home time!

We’ve just been invited for a 3 year old that is 12-2. I think yours sounds fine.
