Pro rated salary calculation help

I have started new job on 2nd March, salary £24k, £2000 per month (mon-fri)

I'm told procedure for pro-rata/part month is to divide salary by 260 (working days) then multiply by number of days I will work in March (22 days). So should I expect to be paid £2030.77 ie more than normal for my first month?

I work in payroll, we use the same theory.

In this scenario we would take 1 day off your 12th so gross amount paid of £1907.69

Thank you - seems I have joined in a long month in terms of working days - so I might get less than expected.

The rule only works to benefit in one direction, twas ever thus!

Yes, we would do similar in my company, but only for short term contractors - staff on an annual salary would have it averaged over the year. Our contractors tend to quote either a daily or weekly rate.

Anyway, so for Jan, it would have been 21 days (inc BH), Feb 20 days, and yes, March is 23 days

I don't know who makes decisions on these complex payroll matters. In your case, if you're working a set pattern and have had an annualised salary, I have no idea why they wouldn't just pay £2k per month...

Because she's not working a full month when she starts.
needabreak5 · 10/03/2022 12:10

I will just get £2k per month going forward. It's only for March where I haven't worked the full month then it will be pro-rated

because she didn't work 1 day?
