To take a 5 year old to Wembley Stadium?

I am so torn on this so looking for advice!
My husband's football team are playing in a cup final at Wembley next month. He would love us all to go and see them play, and I would love that too...but in reality I'm not sure how 5yo DD will get on! Her older brother will be fine as been to lots of matches with DH but this would be DDs first. I know it would be a lot 'easier' without her there but it also seems unfair to leave her out of a once in a lifetime event.

I should also say we live in the north east so it all involves a hotel stay and 3h train journey each way.

YABU - a football match at Wembley is no place for a 5yo, just DH and DS go
YANBU- take snacks and go, she'll be fine

@TinaYouFatLard

I don’t know what the atmosphere will be like at this particular final, but after taking the kids to the Euro final at Wembley, I vowed never again.

We are very regular at our premier league club matches so are used to the usual football related behaviour, but this was something else.

Agree with this, we went to the semi final (Italy vs Spain) last year and the behaviour was appalling. Stewards did absolutely nothing. Italian fans chain smoking in the stands etc. Good thing we couldn’t understand the language.

We have season tickets in the family stand for our closest premier league team so yes we are used to football matches but like you I would never go to a big game at Wembley again.

In this case - local teams, it will be fine. We took DD at similar age to the women’s cup final so smaller crowds but it was great.

I took both my kids to Wembley to watch a rugby match & they were fine! They were about 6 & 4. We put small toys, figures etc, snacks etc in a rucksack each for them - no problem. They enjoyed dressing up in the club colours. Enjoy & good luck.

Beware. she'll never forgive or forget if you don't take her, and I speak from experience as a child! I was going to football matches from a very young age, younger than your daughter and it was in the days where people stood up!
The atmosphere of Wembley is amazing, she'll love it and, with all respect to Hartlepool and their opponant, I doubt it will be a full house!

Please take her. We took our sons to a women's International and it was fine despite it pissing down with rain. The youngest was 5 and our elder one has SEN.

The queues can be horrendous to get in, just be warned.

Thanks so much everyone for all these tips. We are going to take her, getting very excited now!

Yeah you’ve got to go, let her see her dad play at Wembley, it doesn’t happen very often.

Is her dad actually playing? I had assumed dad was a supporter!

Hello!

Sorry to hop on this thread. Our local side has got to the final for an appearance at Wembley at May...

It would make grandads day if the little one could be there. Little one will be 25 months on the day of the final! Are we crazy for considering it? Any tips? Got a reservation just in case at the Ibis just across from Wembley...

Hello! We went and had the most amazing time, DD (5) did so well! It was incredibly loud and busy though, my 10 yo DS struggled with the crowds and noise but interestingly DD was fine. It went to extra time and she got bored during the last half hour and watched you tube on my phone but Im so glad we took her, amazing memories of the weekend (even though our team lost!)
