Sorry I know we might as well be named ‘Energynet’ these days but I’ve just received my post April projection.

We have a 4 bed semi with en suite, family bath and downstairs toilet. Gas central heating. DH and I both home workers. Have been reducing heating usage for a while now and have the thermostat set to 14 degrees during the day with it upped to 18 degrees for an hour or so in the evening.

The information suggests we use just over 6,000kWh of electricity per year and almost 17,000kWh of gas per year. That seems high and a Google seems to agree but is there a possibility it could be wrong?! Grasping at straws here as they reckon I’ll be using almost 5 grand per year of energy as of April Shock

@dementedpixie

What dont you understand

Electric calculations are:
6058 x 27.09p
365 x 48.6465

And then for gas
16909 x 7.224
365 x 27.216

Yes I understood that but as it was clear. What I hadn’t picked up on was the two different costs mentioned on the information, was that one was for a fixed rate for the next ten months. Which I guess would almost see us through next winter. Ish. So it’s a case of whether or not we suck up increased costs early in the hope it pays off by next winter?

I did a couple of weeks back but I got a two year fix. If you’re going to consider it, go to a price comparison site like MSE energy club, put in all your details including kWh used and see what else is on the market. Probably slim pickings now, admittedly, but check.
