Heating oil - OMG!

WilsonMilson · 08/03/2022 23:09

We usually get 900 litres of heating oil for around £400- £450.

I knew prices had gone up, but just went to order more and was quoted £1,200 for the same amount.

I don’t think I’m being unreasonable in being speechless, I about fell off my chair. That’s almost 3 times the usual amount. This is totally unsustainable, and coupled with all the other increases in electricity, petrol etc, it’s really getting quite scary now.

Plug in heaters are selling out.

I just checked our usual supplier - the standard price is 129ppl but the express price is 98ppl - it might be a mistype but if not that's the cheapest I've seen this week.

My unit cost for gas will be 3 x what it was under my last fix, once the new price cap becomes effective, so it's about the same increase.

I can’t even get a quote from boiler juice at the moment, have told DC’s that once this tank runs out then there won’t be any heating and showers only no baths

We have a community WhatsApp on which I read this morning that there had been an oil theft from the church in the small village adjoining ours.

People will need to be vigilant and I think it would be advisable to up tank security.
