Strawberries again with no taste. Huge and look so juicy but absolutely tasteless.

Anyone else finding this with fruit in general?

I only buy strawberries if I can smell them as I walk past them in the supermarket. Otherwise they're not worth it. Not sure why anyone would bother in March TBH.

Another one here who bys from Riverford. Always good. Keep to what's in season. Carrots taste like carrots did when we were children. Apples with flavour.
But yes, Riverford costs more and we count ourselves lucky that we can afford it - retired, not a huge income but that's what we prefer to spend our money on rather than entertainments, clothes, going out much.

Even in season I think you have to be lucky to get really flavoursome Strawberries these days.

The smaller ones in Tesco aren’t bad at the moment. But as a rule big supermarket strawberries are often tasteless yes. I don’t know why people buy them. Hope I suppose.

Raspberries are ok. Mangoes are often strong flavoured. Pears when very ripe can have a strong flavour.

Buy in season as per almost everyone and don't buy fruit or vegetables that have come by plane unless you can help it. You can vary your diet by buying frozen fruit which can provide flavour if Not texture.

I grow a few strawberries and they are delicious straight from the plant, warmed in the sun, but have to be eaten that day as they go mushy - so wouldn't do for supermarkets.

I only buy the expensive Pink Lady apples most of the year as they're the only ones with the right flavour and texture. Cost 2 or 3 times as much but I'd rather have one of those (which all get eaten) than three mushy, bland apples which go brown quickly and get left to wrinkle in the bowl.
