Dodgy neighbour doesn’t care

peedoffnow · 08/03/2022 17:13

While we're all complaining about fuel costs constantly rising, my neighbour blatantly takes a delivery of 5 drums of red diesel every couple of weeks and stands in full view of all the neighbours while he fills up his car, his wife's car and his sons car...all top of the range cars I may add...

Meanwhile, he's on benefits (although he delivers for local Chinese takeaway 6 nights a week and likes to tell anyone that will listen, how he earns at least £150 per night😡)

This has been going on for several years now...if I had the bottle I would phone and report him to the police.

He's also mentioned that he needs to decorate his house and get new furniture so he's going off on a lads holiday abroad for a few days and said he will damage a pipe in his loft before he goes so his house will be totally flooded by the time he gets home, as the house will be empty while he's away, and he will claim his house insurance to replace and reinstate everything, all for the cost of his £150 excess.

AIBU to be peed off at him?

Report him re red diesel and benefits, as it bothers you, and he is defrauding the treasury.

Boxowine · 08/03/2022 19:07

Five drums? How big are these drums? Where is he storing them that is in full view of the neighbors?

Nat94 · 08/03/2022 19:12

I would take notice. Other people cheating the system makes no odds to my life.

SailingNotSurfing · 08/03/2022 19:15

Report him. Sod the neighbour's policeman sons, they are probably off duty and don't want to be landed with arresting their mum's neighbour. If he's genuinely illegally in receipt of stolen diesel, then call the police when it's delivered. If he's getting cash in hand payments, but still claiming benefits, report him to the DWP. If he's planning insurance fraud, then tip off the insurance company. If he's as much of a blabbermouth as you say, it will be simple to find out who he's insured with.

Stop bubbling over with rage and DO SOMETHING!!!

Nat94 · 08/03/2022 19:15

Wouldn’t **

burnthur5t · 08/03/2022 19:17

Report him to the police, they'll arrange to have the car's tanks dipped and also mention he delivers for a restaurant

I bet he hasn't got the correct insurance for that

Hesma · 08/03/2022 19:17

YABU to be cross if you’re not going to do anything about it

skodadoda · 08/03/2022 19:19

@Nat94

I would take notice. Other people cheating the system makes no odds to my life.
But it does. You pay more tax, vat, insurance. The NHS is underfunded.
ChickenGotLegs · 08/03/2022 19:21

If you do report him they might just do a random spot check on his car one day when he's out and about. This is why this country is such a fucking mess cos nobody wants to do anything.

Jijithecat · 08/03/2022 19:24

Just report it online to Crimestoppers. They'll make sure the information goes to every agency that needs to know.

If you're not going to do anything about it you may as well ask for this thread to be deleted.

Hertsgirl10 · 08/03/2022 19:26

@skodadoda

Na let’s just not know every piece of into into a neighbours whole life and grass them up.

People always get what’s coming to them in the end.

Indigoo03 · 08/03/2022 19:34

Report the red diesel!

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/03/2022 19:44

Considering he’s been doing all this for yonks he will never cotton on it’s you, who’s informed the authorities. So I’d do it.

Sparklesocks · 08/03/2022 19:47

If he gets the diesel delivered to his home and fills up the cars with it in front of everyone then he couldn’t know who dobbed him in

ComeOnSpringtime · 08/03/2022 19:54

He seems to say so much. All these details from a neighbour. He's not a very good law-breaker, is he? Or is there a reason he trusts you and everybody else he constantly tells all his business to?

You can do any of these:

  1. Tell him to stop telling you his crimes or you may become an accessory someday.
  1. Report him.
  1. Ignore him. Just hi and bye.
  1. If you know him very well, enough to be a listening ear, then you can learn 'law-breaking' from him and you too may start living the life.
MichelleScarn · 08/03/2022 19:57

He's earning £46k a year delivering take away? Are they looking for staff?!

whynotwhatknot · 08/03/2022 20:01

Ive voted yabu-because youve come here told us and then said you couldnt possibly report-waste of time

Wafflesnsniffles · 08/03/2022 21:58

YABU not to find the bottle and report him for benefit fraud. Ive never had need to do so but I assume its fairly anonymous/easy to do.

If you wont report............ whats the point of moaning here about him.

nonevernotever · 08/03/2022 22:08

Report anonymously to crimestoppers

StoneofDestiny · 08/03/2022 22:09

Post his details on here and we will all report it

nonevernotever · 08/03/2022 22:12

Oh and @tkwal no I don't do any of those. And at least two of your list are commonly used to fund organised crime with all the negative knock on effects for the wider community so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make?

tkwal · 08/03/2022 22:42

nonevernotever

The point is that if someone does any of the things I mentioned then they would be in no position to criticise or report the dodgy neighbour mentioned in the OP without being hypocritical. I thought that would have been clear ? Before you remove the speck from your neighbours eye, remove the log from your own is another way of putting it

nonevernotever · 09/03/2022 09:46

Ah I'm sorry @tkwal I see what you mean now.

Nanny0gg · 09/03/2022 09:56

@Hertsgirl10

No one knows how to mind their own anymore going by this post and comments … what is it doing to you other than the obvious jealously.
Um. Defrauding the taxpayer?

Whilst admittedly small fry, why should he get away with it? And storing diesel is dangerous
