To think that spring is in the air?

A lovely sunny (still cold though) day here today, the blossom is starting to come out on some trees, the daffodils are waving in the breeze and we had new season Welsh lamb for lunch!
With all of the doom and gloom in the world I'm trying to focus on something positive for a few hours!

Winter is over, but we still have second winter, and winter the third act still to come.

weebarra · 06/03/2022 17:25

Not warm here, got up to 8 degrees I think, but lovely and sunny. I have the washing out,the daffodils are starting, and I saw two birds building a next yesterday. But, we're in Scotland and it has been known to snow on FIL's birthday at the beginning of May!

Horst · 06/03/2022 17:40

I see the fellow gardeners and food growers have arrived.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 06/03/2022 17:54

Last year was unusual. I hope it’s not the same it’s year. Nothing wanted to germinate, it sat shivering in the seed trays before damping off.

We didn’t get a pea crop. Even resorted to buying pea plants and they shivered and faded away. Never known a year like it.

BashfulClam · 06/03/2022 17:57

It’s been cold but really sunny where I am. I actually didn’t take a jacket/chat yesterday and really enjoyed the sun. Unusual for Scotland.

AprilShowers82 · 06/03/2022 17:59

Not warm but bright and sunny and definitely feeling like spring! Been gardening this weekend and enjoyed a glass of wine in the garden this afternoon. Beautiful.

MarshaBradyo · 06/03/2022 17:59

Very cold outside party here but yes blossom on the trees and sunshine really helped

Plus the Prosecco

Springhassprung86 · 06/03/2022 18:01

I live behind a canal. Two little birds have built a nest behind my decking…spring is definitely Here! 🥰

Lovely idea for a thread @WibbleWobbleWibble it’s much nicer now the evenings are lighter. Even if it’s cold and damp in the day, at least it’s not dark at 4.30 anymore!

Whatthechicken · 06/03/2022 18:21

Although I think we are in fool’s spring - the crows are starting to nest and we did have frogspawn on the wildlife pond today (which I thought was very early - but they know better than me!)

Liamgallaghersparka · 06/03/2022 18:25

Yes, it's been a lovely, sunny day. This evening it was light till well after 6, the birds are singing and we have blue tits in our nestbox. And my hawthorn is starting to bud.

Longdistance · 06/03/2022 18:32

I’ve seen so many birds today. The sun was shining and the garden room was tropical. There’s blossom on some of the trees.

Norugratsatall · 06/03/2022 18:32

Well the wind and rain has flattened all
My daffodils which were just coming into bud. Plus it's bloody freezing so no not very spring-like here...

Flowersandhearts · 06/03/2022 18:57

@TimeSlipMushroom

"I had a newborn animal killed for my lunch". A joyous time of the year indeed
I do feel a little bit like this on reading about eating new season lamb but the OP's thread is meant to be a positive one about spring sunshine, flowers and all things happy to take away from the negativity in the world at the moment so I think people should focus on that.
MrsJamieFraser22 · 06/03/2022 19:04

Beautiful sunny weekend here but very cold overnight. Spring or fools spring I am happy with it, got the slabs and garden play equipment power washed yesterday and had the washing out in the balmy 8 degrees today 😀. Was thinking of planting some seeds next weekend but that may be foolhardy considering DDs school was closed for a snow day just over a week ago!

2catsandhappy · 06/03/2022 19:14

All buds and shoots here. Looking forward to planting when frost danger is over.

AnneElliott · 06/03/2022 20:18

Lovely here - SE London/Kent borders. Bright but cold and a bit of a wind. But lots of daffs out which is lovely to see.

sophienelisse · 15/03/2022 18:16

Definitely!

Trees are starting to blossom
I saw a bee today
There is a weed starting to grow in my paving.

Love spring

Gowithme · 15/03/2022 18:21

Bloody Blackbird singing it's heart out at 5:30am - definitely spring is beginning but that doesn't mean it won't turn cold/wet/miserable again for a bit. Last year early spring was awful.
