Hello all,

Just a bit of fun because when I first started using MN I didn't know what stuff meant and I ended up on a thread that was something like "Tell me your CF stories" and for some reason I thought it meant "close friend" and I was reading the thread like how can these people let their close friends treat them like this and then after an embarrassing amount of time I think some actually said "cheeky fucker" and I was like oooooooooh Blush

Obviously this is meant to be light hearted just a bit of afternoon boredom.

There was a very sensitive thread - bereavement related - that I was lurking on, and I accidentally posted a light-hearted comment on it intended for another thread. Fortunately MNHQ deleted for me quickly, but I felt awful about it.

My mistake was not giving the full information in my OP. I started a thread about housework to ask how much other people would get done in a free afternoon compared to what I had done , but didn’t include the fact that I have a chronic disease that affects my energy levels and need to pace myself.

So people replied saying why on earth did I need to take a break between each task, why didn’t I just keep going, etc, and basically implying I was lazy. It made me feel awful, but if I’d put the fact about my illness in the OP, I would have got much more sympathetic responses! My own fault entirely.

Asked for genuine advice about a parenting issue on AIBU. I was ripped to shreds, and accused of all sorts by people twisting my words and making all manner of strange assumptions. Had I posted on a more relevant sub-forum I would no doubt have just had normal responses from people who bothered to actually read what I had written.

At the start of lock down I made the mistake of posting how much I was enjoying my lock down days at home.
The context was that I was an intensive care nurse working 60-70 hours per week and when I finally got my day off I loved not having to go anywhere or get dressed. I said that it was such good rest and recuperation ready to head into my next stint of 60-70 hours per week working.

Well. The vitriol and viciousness of the replies were eye watering!!
I was called pathetic, selfish, self centred and a troll fishing to upset people who hadn’t been out except for walks for weeks.

I never ever expected that kind of reaction at all.
But then I should have read the room I suppose.

I was a bit like you op.
For far to long I always read 'pfb' as 'preferred first born' 🤣
I have absolutely no idea why I thought that.
Having 2 kids myself I certainly don't have a preferred one 🙈

Admitted to driving infractions.

One was driving in such a tired state that I had to ask DH to park the car in our (very tight, reverse entry only) garage.
The other for driving over the speed limit in an unfamiliar school zone on a non school day.

The fury from the MN Collective was quite a shock!

Haha I can second this! Posted that I got a speeding ticket on a thread (under a different username) and got a right telling off. People saying I should be banned from driving etc for going 5mph over the limitGrin

I asked if it was necessary for some people to use the worst type of swear words. You can imagine how well that went down ! I swear sometimes, but out loud on the spur of the moment. You have to make a conscious decision to write swear words, therefore for the record, on the whole, I still mostly think it's unnecessary
