It’s there because it needs to go upstairs and as you are on your fucking way upstairs, fucking take it with you.
FFS.
It’s not rocket science, it’s simple, surely it’s simple?

Mum? Is that you?
Chely · 03/03/2022 09:35

I just do it myself rather than leave it top or bottom in the hope the magic helper fairies come out to play.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 03/03/2022 09:36

This does my fucking head in more than anything else.

I leave it and leave it. Then it becomes like some sort of obstacle course, and the fuckers still step over it.

I send pictures out, no one even look at them🤬

Then l explode.

🤯

Bagadverts · 03/03/2022 09:37

Live alone, no stairs but edge of a table when I unpack in the kitchen and have stuff for the bathroom. Walk past it, sometimes move it to another part of the table to use the table.

I’ve taken to leaving things in the bag and immediately going to the bathroom and putting it away.

Yellowleadbetter · 03/03/2022 11:54

And in other news, it’s like Blackpool fucking illuminations in this house because apparently no one can turn off bloody lights either.

toconclude

Yellowleadbetter
Well then Hiding you are of course excused because you are doing what needs to be done in the first place.
You are efficient and quite frankly, marvellous. smile
Well that was unnecessary
No genuinely, Hiding is doing exactly what this thread is begging people in my house to do… don’t go anywhere empty handed. I wasn’t being sarcastic, I was genuinely saying thank you for this.!

So I’m a “stuff on the stairs ignorer”

Mostly because I see stuff on the stairs and think “what is it doing there” not “it definitely needs to come upstairs. How do I know it’s meant to come up and not go downstairs when it’s on the middle landings?

I also just take stuff straight upstairs when it’s needed rather than leaving it there and hoping someone else will do it

milkyaqua · 03/03/2022 12:01

Why create a trip hazard?

LampLighter414 · 03/03/2022 12:03

Why on gods green earth do people leave stuff on the stairs? It's quite a health and safety hazard. It would not be allowed at a workplace, so why at home?

LampLighter414 · 03/03/2022 12:04

Surely it makes sense that whoever leaves it on the stairs with the intent that it be taken up later, should just take it up right there and then.

Completely agree

Id never leave a cup by the sink hoping someone else would get the hint to wash it up

I have wide stairs.

I... that's a good point actually 🤔 I usually put things on the stairs that need to go upstairs when I'm tidying up downstairs (so I'm not constantly going up and down them), but the next time I go up I'm usually carrying laundry up or something, so they get left...

BrightYellowDaffodil · 03/03/2022 12:26

It's because they'll have to do something with it when they get to the top of the stairs...

Mind you, I can't criticise because I live alone and I do this to myself!

LadyCordeliaFitzgerald · 03/03/2022 12:29

As someone who can step over my own stuff that I’ve left on the stairs for myself, I can see both sides of this issue

PancakeBae · 03/03/2022 12:31

the same people who put plates on top of the dishwasher and wait for the machine to absorb them.

KindlyKanga · 03/03/2022 12:34

@Yellowleadbetter

Top tip… place items in the middle of the stair, not at the side, right there in their face in the centre of the stair. See how long it stays there.. and I swear to god, if someone moves it to the side I shall blow my shit..!
I have done this. They step over it!

I might print a sign explaining the stair system.

Because they are busy with the housework or whatever so to save energy it should just get a lift up with whoever is next. I'm up and down those stairs enough!
KindlyKanga · 03/03/2022 12:37

My "favourite" was when I left the loo roll on the stairs and DH didn't take it up with him then a few minutes later he's calling for me from the loo and asking if there's any loo roll.

Thelnebriati · 03/03/2022 12:39

I introduced a system of stair baskets but made the error of buying baskets that are invisible.

Haha I was thinking what a genius idea then read the 2nd half.
ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 03/03/2022 12:46

I always seem to go up and down the stairs with something in my hand.

Everyone else gambols up and down like spring lambs. Which have no hands!

Chouetted · 03/03/2022 12:46

Guilty of this... Mostly because I'm usually going up the stairs to do something, and working out why there's random crap on the stairs would distract me from my goal.

Also scarred from the times I've taken things up that weren't supposed to be taken upstairs. If I have to track you down to ask what your intentions were, it isn't happening, sorry.

MaryAndHerNet · 03/03/2022 12:47

Why on god's green earth would someone take something to the bottom of the stairs and not just 20 seconds Futher by popping it up stairs?

obstacalling · 03/03/2022 12:47

My Mother used to moan about this

Now I do it

🙈
