Does this seem suspicious? No info about company online and brand new

I interviewed for a care Recruitment company that I found via indeed.
They don't seem to have an official website, the role itself sounds like a standard care agency in terms of role, rate of pay, benefits etc.

I managed to find some info and apparently the company has only existed for 3 weeks, and consists of a husband and wife duo who've had several other business names in the past.

The interviewer who I assume was the wife said I had been successful and would be moved onto the DBS application process but this seems suspicious, shall I leave it?

Sounds very suspicious to me. Think I’d leave it…

Not sure in what way they could scam me? If I send my DBS documents maybe they could do something dodgy with them?
It's the sort of job where they'd send you to care homes and various settings as and when required so maybe they could not pay you or something?

Have you been able to check what happened to the other businesses they've traded as, e.g. via Companies House?

Cottagepieandpeas · 02/03/2022 18:16

I don’t know. But all companies have been only a few weeks old at some point.
I’d investigate their previous businesses.

It just says some dissolved and some are still operating, I'll look at the companies house

Are they on LinkedIn? Companies house?

The dbs bit is less suspicious if its care work.

All new agencies still need temps working to get off the ground. But I can see why it's worrying to you.

Where are they based?

000oooh · 02/03/2022 18:17

You're right all companies started somewhere.. I'll try to investigate some more

They're based in Sheffield apparently

Check their history on Companies House if they have been Directors of lots of companies for short periods of time before they get dissolved/would up etc I would stay away. There are lots of places crying out for care staff could you not apply to othe replaces with a more reliable history?

Phormiumjester · 02/03/2022 18:19

@000oooh

They're based in Sheffield apparently
Search the directors on LinkedIn- likely I'll know them! If you want to PM me I might be able to give you a steer
000oooh · 02/03/2022 18:22

They have been directors of some for like 4 years and 1 or 2 for 14, then 1 for only a year..I've managed to find them on LinkedIn, I'm still unsure though I think it's probably better to just go with a well known agency

If the company says 'dissolved' you need to find out why. They may not even have been a director at the time it was dissolved, but left the business earlier. Directors come and go.

You can check that by searching the name on the Companies House website and clicking on the 'Filing History' tab. That is also where you will find the annual filed accounts for the business.
A series of short-lived companies all run by the same people in the same line of business would be distinctly fishy.
