I get it - all the funs they can have and the exercise it provides. But I'm really puzzled/a bit disturbed that it seems nobody talked much about the safety side of this product (or this kind of products).
When I got the original Wobbel Board (weighs 4.5kg) for my two DSs (9 and 2), the first reaction from DH was "Isn't this quite dangerous for young children?" He's particularly concerned for DS2 who's 2 and feared his tiny fingers/toes could get crashed by it.
I got it to strengthen DS1's balance and counter DS2's gravitational fear. They both enjoyed it so far. I've been warning them again and again to be careful, never have your fingers/toes near the edge outside and stop immediately if the other one gets closer. I feel nervous whenever my DSs are playing together with it. Literally don't dare to move my eyes away.
But two weeks in, I got my own fingers squeezed multiple times whilst trying to be very careful. Yesterday, my thumb got caught under when I was trying to get off the board in front of DS2. The bottom of the nail turned dark purple. It was SO painful.
The manufacturer does have warning for holding the edge. But I feel the design of the product is just flawed, as how do you expect young children to be sufficiently careful when they are actively playing on/around it?
Is it just me who's making a big deal out of it?
