Don’t give him the money to take out the Country and do who knows what with. What’s the point if sanctions if people like him just get to ship up and out? (Quite literally as he’s doing a runner in his mega yacht…).

Strategically, wouldn’t it be best for allies of Putin to have financial dependence on London in order to keep London safe from bombing? This is something I’ve been wondering. However, I know nothing about war or defence so if there is some reason that counteracts what I’ve said I’d be interested to know the logic of it.

Seize his assets, put some of his belongings in a plastic bag and pack him off back to Russia.

I think the best thing would be to open internment camps for Russian citizens living in this country. This was done for Germans and Italians in WWII (they were packed of to the Isle of Man) and the US did it for Japanese people. Keeping Abramovitch and other oligarchs locked up - preferably in central London, Birmingham and other major cities - would have the dual benefit of reducing the risk of Putin bombing them.

Obviously although they'd be locked away they wouldn't need to be treated as criminals, they'd have access to education and medical care if necessary. Their assets would be frozen and used to pay for the upkeep of the system (a bit like how people who are wrongly convicted get charged for their prison board when released).

It would be a good idea to start this process now, before they have the chance to leave the country with their wealth.

@MorningStarling - do you realise that the majority of Russian citizens in the UK are not oligarchs but normal people with jobs, children and lives? Some have lived here for decades

@PeasAndFlour that's exactly what I've been thinking!
