To think the new cervical screening system will miss cancer cases

I think the new system is a blunt tool without room for nuance. E.g. if someone has hpv, then in the next smear they don’t, the previous hpv could have caused cell changes before the infection cleared but these aren’t picked up on, because the cells aren’t looked at anymore.

Privatisation through the back door. This will push women to go private if they have had previous complications.

@PeasAndFlour
Can you recommend a private place to go for smears? Any particular companies? I’m semi flexible on location so it’s good to know what is out there.

I've used City Doc in the past. But I've just looked at their website and I no longer see the particular clinic I went to, maybe it closed. If anyone has any recommendations for clinics, that would be great!

Rattlehum 88% of even CIN 3 would revert to normal on its own! And typically cervical cancer takes longer than 3-5 years to develop unless it’s adenocarcinoma, the aggressive form that mainly affects younger women and is what did for the late Ms Goody. CRUK say the UK woman has a 0.65%chance of developing cervical cancer in her lifetime, so, 99%they WONT. Get it.
Around 700 women die of it in the UK out of 30 million women, heart disease and stroke is the number 1 killer of UK women, and as many women die in falls on stairs as of cervical cancer!

This annoys me so much.

I had abnormal cells detected in my 20s with no HPV.
Now firstly, they are not screening young women for this possibility as they've had their "cervical cancer vaccine" and secondly, even with my history, they will just test my smear cells for HPV?

I get that the HPV jabs have been very effective but these smears will not catch cases like mine - which is why women still attending their smear test.

I didn't know I could get private smears. Off to Google.
