So I've just got a new job which is a huge step for me!! But it's working nights (permanent nights not shift work) so does anyone have any tips for working nights? I've never worked nights before!

Watch out for over eating. It’s very easy to gain weight when working nights.

the transition day between your last night shift and a regular "day time" type routine is challenging. my colleagues and i called it our coo-coo day and we reminded each other NO banking and NO confrontation with teachers. i would go as far as possible to avoid my partner as well.

Go to bed in the afternoon/evening to stay closer to your normal sleep pattern on rest days. You'll also be wider awake at work.
Keep up water intake.
Be ready for the 0400hrs dip where you feel exhausted.
I always had a red bull during briefing to set me up.
If driving,be very careful if over tired you can fall asleep at the wheel,I've seen it.
Enjoy going home when everyone is going to work
But ear p lugs/try nytol?
Enjoy the night shift atmosphere.
Love nights

Thankfully I don't drive (I only live a short walk to where I'll be working) I'm definitely worried about snacking through the night so trying to meal plan and making sure I include lots of protein to avoid that. I don't have much of social life anymore so staying in night mode should be fairly easy
