For those of you working hybrid what’s your routine?
How many days office / home?
What hours do you work?
What benefits are you finding working hybrid?

My organisation is working 2 days in the office, 3 from home, with the option to work as much in the office as wanted. I work 36 hours over 4 days. I alternate my days so Monday and Weds 1 week, and Tuesday Thursday the next. I struggled working from home full time as I felt very isolated, this pattern works well for me.

Rainydays55 · 27/02/2022 19:50

Do you work long hours @Iwouldratherbemuckingout to fit 36 hours into 4 days?

Ooh interesting, im about to go into hybrid working, 3 days home 2 days office. I was thinking Tues & Thurs at home but like the idea of alternates.

Associatepeggy · 27/02/2022 19:52

2 days a month for me and my teams. On days we plan in advance.

I live less than 5 mins from head office so often pop in for meetings. I am in tomorrow but not til 2pm. And will leave for home at about 4 30. If I fancy going in, I do. If I don't, I just do them on teams.

mrsmacmc · 27/02/2022 19:54

2 days in office, 3 days remote with the option to work more in office if I desired. Some weeks could be 3 days in office on the rota for the public access area which works out twice a month which we get a months notice about.

DH work is working through their hybrid approach just now but it looks like twice a month in office and rest of the time remote.

SarahProblem · 27/02/2022 19:56

37 hours a week. Roughly 9-5 but I'm not really measured by hours worked, rather how successful my outputs are.

2 days in office. Every Wednesday set (all team have to be in) then one flex day where I pick based on what works for meetings/activities.

Benefits mean I still have in person contact time with all my team but still have days at home with fewer distractions when working on projects.

Also I usually have my second office day on Friday which means when the weekend is here I mentally leave work at work when I leave the office.

willnotbemoved · 27/02/2022 19:56

ll across the landing to log on (having a shower en route on good days).
Days I feel like a change: tootle off to office and enjoy the novelty.

On WFH days I can work from 8-6 quite happily with minimal lunch break but on office days I tend to only do 8.15 - 5 with 30-45 minutes lunch break so my employers are clearly getting more out of me on WFH days.

For context, I manage a software team so F2F is not really necessary.

willnotbemoved · 27/02/2022 19:57
  • Sorry, on WFH days roll across the landing....

We have a 3 day office/2 day WFH from April with Tuesday as the mandatory office day for everyone.

I work 4 days and will do 3 days one week and 2 days the next in office. I will do Mon-Wed (every second week) in the office and Thursdays always from home as it fits best with DD's hobbies and DH's work schedule.

We do 9-5 as standard, regardless of office or WFH.

LaMariposa · 27/02/2022 20:12

I do a 35hr week. Currently we can be 100% home based, but most of my team goes in on a Tuesday. From April it’s supposed to be 50% in the office, most of us have planned to do Tuesday and Friday (for the pub lunch/dress down day) and an extra random day a fortnight too.

Baker90 · 27/02/2022 20:13

Pretty flexible but generally do 2 days in the office, but can go in whenever feel like. Technically working hours 8.30-5 with a hour lunch but can be flexible. Rarely take a lunch break though, will eat and make a cuppa while I work. If working from home generally log on by half 7 as I like the hour before I start getting calls etc through. Also finish by 4 half 4 most days to get the kids so really can't complain. My work are so flexible it's great.

EarringsandLipstick · 27/02/2022 20:18

I work at a third level institution managing a teaching team. So we need to be on-site a certain proportion of the time.

I have organised our team's rota to be 50:50 on-site, at home. Most of my team like to work a block of days in one location. We swap around days on a two week rota. Personally I'm on site a little more for meetings / teaching but aim for 50/50. I like alternating my days where I can so I'll go in on Monday, wfh Tuesday etc & swap the following week.

I really like the blended approach.

housemaus · 27/02/2022 20:45

I WFH 3-4 days a week, some weeks all 5.

WFH days - on a lazy day I roll out of bed at 7.45, wash my face and make a brew, on a good day I'll get up at 7, have a shower and get semi-dressed. Log in and say hi to everyone. Spend an hour or so going through the 50 emails I'll have got overnight, a meeting or two, some project work, tend not to have a proper lunch at home.

Work through to 5ish (supposed to finish at 4) but with plenty of time to stick a wash on, clean the kitchen while I'm on a call to my business partners (haha!) etc. Lots of meetings, so on those days I'll get dressed (on the top half, haha) and put makeup on, otherwise I'm a slattern in my joggers all day. Much more productive in these days than I am the office.

On an office day I leave the house at 6.30, 1 hr commute, grab a coffee and breakfast en route and listen to a podcast. Tends to be back to back meetings in the office, so meetings 8.30 - 12.30, an hour for lunch (usually go out with someone in the team I've not seen for a while), an hour of project work in afteroon then more meetings til 4, leave at 4 on the dot (we're strict about people leaving on time). Takes an hour and 20 min on the way home, home by 5.30/40.

I like doing both, but I'm much more productive from home. Fewer distractions. But the office days are nice to break up the routine!

DH - Mon - Tues at home, Wed - Fri in office

Me - Mon Wed Fri in office, Tues wfh Thurs off

It’s a nice balance for us.

Needaholiday101 · 27/02/2022 21:00

32 hours over 4 days. 2 in the office, 2 at home. Works out nicely.

Sweetbabyrays · 27/02/2022 21:10

Also 32 hours over 4 days, 2 in 2 wfh. Seems the perfect fit. Like Mondays from home as it’s a nice gentle start to the week!

Sparklesocks · 27/02/2022 21:31

2 days in the office. Each department does it slightly differently but mine tend to be Tuesday and Thursday in office, the other 3 days at home. Our company’s leadership are currently letting individual department heads choose how they manage it with no minimum days in office, however they’re going to firm up the policy on it in April so that might change.

Office days are mainly 8.30-4.30 and I tend to use them for face to face meetings, any collaborative work, and practical things like printing, sending things out in post etc. Also just nice to see colleagues and have that organic chat in the kitchen etc you don’t really get on Teams/Zoom.

WFH days are more like 9-5. Maybe slightly later as I don’t have to jump out of bed to get a train and my boss is relaxed about exact start time as long as you get the work done and don’t miss any meetings. I use those days to catch up on emails, admin, raising POs and processing invoices etc. Have meetings on Zoom occasionally but I try to schedule them face to face if I can, and if I can line them up with colleagues’ office days. I like being able to put a wash on, or make a nice lunch using the hob/oven etc as work just has a microwave. Also handy to be in for deliveries, or having tradesman round etc.

Don’t love commuting but it makes me better appreciate the days when I’m not.

I quite like the balance. It means I have to be more mindful about my schedule and how I book meetings etc, but it works quite well. Really like WFH on a Friday too as when I log off I’m home and ready for the weekend. I normally use what would’ve been my commute on Fridays after 5pm to give the house a quick tidy, makes it nice for the weekend.

@Rainydays55

Do you work long hours *@Iwouldratherbemuckingout* to fit 36 hours into 4 days?
Hi Rainydays yes I need to do a 9 hour day, but tbh I do a 10 hour day as standard, regularly longer. I went to 4 days as part of preparing for retirement, and my working hours over the 4 days hasn’t changed. Really feel the benefit of a 4 day week but took some adjusting mine and colleagues working to make it work, but my team were amazing.
