Colleague kept her job after being suspended, worried about working with her again

A colleague was suspended as she was caught on camera mocking an elderly man (who had not been aggressive to her in any way, he had gotten upset and she was taunting him) i posted initially a few weeks ago.
There has been a video circulating which confirms it, I haven't seen the video but seems many others have, it's very hard for her to deny.
Anyway the colleague kept her job which I'm surprised about. Apparently they attempted to sack her but the higher ups refused.
I got on well with her and I was really disappointed and shocked to hear this, it's made me see her in a very different light. I don't know why she's in this job.
I haven't seen her since but there's a possibility I'll be working with her again in the future and I'm nervous about it.
I'm likely not allowed to discuss what happened nor do I intend to, I just have to desire to know her anymore. It's not like she cracked in the heat of the moment, she was just downright cruel.
Not much I can do other than just be professional? Would you be able to work with her again?

Around 2 years ago a colleague of mine slapped a service user with learning difficulties in the face. Not in any way in defense, just out of anger. Once again, she kept her job. It's sad this is happening so much

I would be moving my relatives care to another company if I had hired their services. Absolutely appalling and shameful and they don't deserve to work in care.

This wasn't a one off moment of frustration, which although unacceptable, could be understood, this is just bullying, nasty behaviour towards a vulnerable person who is probably paying good money for their care and assistance.

Scum.

That’s if you can find another care company with some spaces…..

It’s always extremely tricky when there is such shortage of Labour that you end up having to accept anyone bevause there is no one else

You need to take this higher. There must be a whistle blowing safeguarding number you can call.

Your company sounds fucking awful. Let the video go up higher. There are lots of other care agencies, not all of them would let this happen (thankfully). Time to reconsider how they will affect your reputation

I actually witnessed a care home manager being quite cruel to a resident years ago. I was helping an elderly lady to walk along with her walking frame, she needed to use the toilet very quickly, so was guiding her along, she could not walk fast at all. I was chatting to her, and all of a sudden, the abrupt and nasty care manager appeared, and told me to hurry along faster with the lady, she then shoved me out of the way, and started to push the lady with walking frame, which ended with the lady toppling over and hurting her hip and legs, and the shock of it all made the frail lady have a very bad toilet accident in her clothes, and my job to clean everything up in a corridor..

There was no way really that i could report this awful care manager she was very abrupt with most of the residents, some with dementia.

Surely a frosty reception will have her looking for another job? Make sure every word you speak to her is work related only. Delete her number and block her. Keep an eye on her work. Hopefully the family will take things further if possible..

I think its likely the person has been given a final warning ( you wont be informed of that) especially if it is the first incident. You have no idea if she has underlying issues ( not that thats an excuse) . CQC will be aware if a staff member has been alleged of abuse . Just because you havent been informed doesnt mean they have not been informed as it is part of the reporting process. You dont know if she has been working long hours and her incident has happened when she was over worked. The company may have been allowing her to work too many hours and are therefore culpable hence she wasnt sacked. I am sure she will be very distressed when returning to work, just because she is still working does not mean she isnt on a warning, she will likely be very upset and embarrassed and be fully aware you all know. Personally i would focus on doing my job. Its for management to support her return to work
