Anyone able to give me an insight in to whether they were happy using MYA for cosmetic surgery?

I want to have my breasts enlarged.
Thinking that I may be stupid for going with such a large company and obvious choice but I haven't got any recommendations.

AIBU to use MYA. Are they a bad choice.

My mate used them and she had problems after and had to have them redone by them.

They have cash flow problems and arent refunding people at the moment. There's a whole facebook page dedicated to issues people are having with MYA. I'd go somewhere else x

I found MYA extremely pushy and they were trying to upsell me on further surgery! I went with spire in the end and they were brilliant.

Hi,

Obvious name change.

I had a breast enlargement with MYA many years ago and found they were an unethical company with shoddy after care. I was young and vulnerable, they tried financing with multiple companies as I kept declined and never once mentioned what that would do to my credit report (I was very young, 17 at consult, a week past 18 at surgery.) I had heard that you need to submit your medical history from your GP and that they wouldn't perform the surgery if any mental health issues within a certain period. I had both years of history, and current (at the time) records of disordered eating and depression. I nervously waited for the phone call to discuss it after they received my records from the GP but they never even mentioned it, so they either didn't check or didn't care. At the time I was chuffed but now I wish I had been rejected the surgery and definitely wasn't acting out of a stable frame of mind. The after care was non existent. Once they had my money they didn't really give a crap to be honest. I was discharged what I felt like was too soon after my surgery and they talk about legal chaperones, I was on my own and getting public transport after surgery and it wasn't once checked. Of course these things were all my choice to do, but they have legal obligations to ensure people are acting rationally and safely and I feel that they failed me. There were multiple areas of concern, me clearly not being able to afford it, acting desperate trying to get the surgery done as quickly as possible, not having told anybody about the surgery, not having a chaperone, not acting rationally with proven body dysmorphia issues etc. I feel from a safeguarding point of view I wasn't protected.

Older and wiser now, lots of regret, and tonnes of concerns about how ethical the company is etc. I found out on the internet that my implants were actually recalled nearly 8 years ago and MYA never contacted me to tell me. They haven't responded since I discovered this either.

And yes to above they also tried to talk me into further surgery and the only reason I didn't walk out of their with a rhinoplasty too was declined finance.

Better to go via a private hospital, I’d have thought. Safer and more accountable.

My adult dd went there. Got their finance. No issues and she is very happy.

Thank you everyone for your insights

I went to them to enquire about one procedure and they tried to talk me into other very unnecessary procedures.
Really unethical . I ended up going to my local spire hospital.

What area are you in OP? It may help people suggest alternative companies/clinics.

Hopefullyoneday12 · 27/02/2022 20:30

North East London

Have you looked at Roding Lane Spire Hospital? They do finance for self pay procedures.

BaverstockSPiper · 17/08/2023 00:59

I have experienced the Same was this the Bristol clinic and how was your spire experience as I was thinking of doing the same thing I was going to go with mya but I have heard bad reviews and now this had put me off and now I'm unsure
