AIBU to ask for tips to increase my immune system

I am always sick! It’s the flu or a virus or some bug and I am yet again in bed on a weekend trying to regain my voice after a flu. Is there any way to improve my immune system? Or AIBU and I’m just unlucky and susceptible to viruses?

I'm not sure if it's wearing facemasks (god, I wish they'd stay), or starting supplements that has dramatically cut my need for antibiotics for my chest. I'm taking vitamin C, zinc, vitamin D, and probiotics.

Definitely get some good vitamins. Have a look at vitl - you fill in a questionnaire and they sort out what you need.

I got sleep, immunity and skin and can see a big difference in myself a month in.

I had the same problem. Started making a green smoothie every morning to take on turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, cumin and green leaft veg and vit C. Made a big difference.

Have you checked out if there are any underlying issues? I would have described myself as the same. It was only when a friend pushed me into asking my doctor that I found out I had fairly bad asthma. I (and the doctor) had assumed that if I had asthma I would have known about it before my thirties, turns out my parents just never bothered to bring it up when I was a kid. Since having inhalers I'm less susceptible, get rid of them quicker and I'm able to exercise more which I'm sure helps too!

Exercise. Sleep. Good food. Vaccinations.

Thanks everyone! I will look into supplements and work on my diet. Glad to hear these changes have helped!

Good diet and exercise 😊 And sleep.

I also took a Thriva test (blood test) and that helped me fine tune things a bit, and so started taking supplements which also helped.

Since I started exercising most days and eating well I rarely get sick, and if I do I get over it quickly. I used to spend winters coming down with one cold after the other feeling pretty rubbish for what felt like months on end.

Get lots of sleep

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 26/02/2022 20:02

Daily multi-vitamin.
Good quality sleep with a similar routine everyday - so try and resist the temptation to sleep in, stay up late and take naps.
A good amount of exercise.

It's all cliché and I sound like my dad, but it's true!
