It's weekend, the sun is shining here, I can feel spring in the air......normally I'd be feeling quite happy and positive. But I just feel flat, no enthusiasm for anything. The thought of those poor people in Ukraine, all the suffering, and also the worries of it turning into a wider war. I feel as if life as we knew it is over. Will it ever get better? How do you all feel today?

@Morgan12

There's terrible suffering in many countries every single day. And people manage fine.
How on earth do they cope fine???
Moonface123 · 26/02/2022 18:24

Fine, staying away from news as always and busy re felting shed roof with sons, it took alot longer than l envisaged but done now.
Going to have a relaxing bath with candles and soft music, then early night as early start tomorrow.

I have been tearful reading the news too. I think that’s a normal, empathic response and not something requiring counselling as one poster suggested. It shows we are all connected.

I’ve been trying to figure out if there is anything we can all do to help. One thing is not to moan when prices go up further. It’s a small sacrifice to make compared to people having to flee their homes or take up arms to fight Sad and not to moan about an influx of refugees. They are our fellow humans and neighbours at a time of crisis. I guess donations to the Red Cross?

Feel very anxious. Feel incredibly guilty for doing things like feeding the ducks with little 'un. Have lost motivation to do anything keep trying to not check on the news. DP thinks I'm stupid for over thinking things!

Deflated. Had DD’s birthday party and it didn’t go super well despite so much planning, excitement and expense! Sad

Oh no, but I bet when she looks back she will remember good bits and remember the bits that didn't go to plan with a smile.

Flat and bored but too unwell to do anything about it. Possibly got lupus. Don't see anyone or go anywhere. Blah.

Feel emotionally and now physically crap after fucking up at work not once but twice and feeling like I'm in the doghouse.

Knowing it's nothing compared to what people are suffering in Ukraine and elsewhere.

@Ohhelpmetoo

Tearful . Unusual for me. Ukraine and all the current suffering and the suffering yet to come. And ( selfishly ) annoyed on my own behalf. I retired last week from a stressful job after a 50 year working life . Everyone who I have spoken to has suggested I could” do a few agency shifts” often people who haven’t worked outside the home for years having had the choice because they are are not ( like me ) single . I almost feel like I’m lazy . Most of my family didn’t live to retire so I’m very lucky. Just feel odd. Concerned too for people struggling with cost of living ,with sick children and people who are trying to explain this war to their kids. Today it seems endless . Tomorrow will be better ! Best wishes to you all
Congratulations on a long and successful career. You deserve to enjoy your retirement the way you want! Please don't feel that the difficulties of the wider world should stop you embracing your happiness and pride at what you've achieved. Now's your time. Just wanted to pass on that thought.

I feel guilty about enjoying simple stuff, like a visit to a great exhibition & enjoying that the sun is out and the gallery café being open again - & so sad that the tiger cub at London zoo has died, and knowing that in the grand scheme of things, none of this matters.
I was walking through Trafalgar Square this afternoon, trying to imagine how it would be if London was invaded.

Morgan12 · 27/02/2022 17:13

Because we all wake every day and go to work and live our lives as normal whilst innocent people get killed at the other side of the world.
It's been happening every single day for years.

Not sure if people only read headlines or don't follow the news but Ukraine isn't the only place this is happening.

So yeah, we have all managed fine before now. Don't see why Ukraine is affecting people's lives any differently than the other places that are never mentioned.

woodhill · 27/02/2022 17:14

Yes I feel depressed and so sorry for the people in the Ukraine
