Parking issue

I need mumsnets collective wisdom. Neighbour has parked with all four wheels on the pavement inches from my front gate. We had to climb over the garden fence to get into the house. What would you do? Because at the minute there is all sorts going through my head.

Background info: we live on a road with houses only on one side of the street, on the other side there are visitor bays for the allotments but they are all used by residents. Each house only has a driveway for one car. I'm not precious about parking directly outside my house. I routinely have cars from other properties outside my house. I have parked in the parking space opposite the house 2 doors down. Owner has taken great offence to this and parked as he did, despite other "visitor bays" still being empty.

I knocked on his door and he opened it with a fuck off. I asked nicely to move and he was shouting and swearing about me parking opposite his house.

We are a new build. 5 years old but still not adopted by the council, so managed by the house builder.

You have a photo. Report it online. They may have a chat with him, they may not. But you'll have a record of a report just incase he does anything again.

Faithtrusts · 23/02/2022 00:04

I'd report anyway as you have photos if only so there is an incident log in case anything further happens.

@thirdwheel

I was on hold to 101 for 15 minutes, and whilst doing so he moved his car. Looks like his wife convinced him. I just got to hope there is no damage to my car in the morning.
His wife is, I believe on MN.
thirdwheel · 23/02/2022 00:08

Our police force wouldn't let me report online. It told me to call 101. I'll try tomorrow.

Greenbluestar · 23/02/2022 00:09

What the actual fuck.. I’d be livid. I don’t normally agree with MN but I would definitely call police

VeganVampire · 23/02/2022 00:11

Post it with the number plate showing on all of the local facebook groups asking what you would do in this situation.

thirdwheel · 23/02/2022 00:11

What??? What makes you think this???

OP posts:
Totalwasteofpaper · 23/02/2022 00:16

@JaniceBingALing

Did you report it anyway? If things escalate it's probably good to have "logged it with 101" so they have it on record.. (oh god it's like parking thread bingo)
100% this report anyway

It's crazy aggressive and he will escalate.
Def involve police

Actions have consequences. It looks like a nice estate so he has "something to lose" as it were

Itsalmostanaccessory · 23/02/2022 00:16

That's annoying. My police force has a form for specific crime like domestic abuse but then it has a link to a generic contact form all other incidents. I think it is because one form is a priority response and the other is just looked at when they can. I thought all forces had something like that.

thirdwheel · 23/02/2022 00:21

Oh I see why! Because of the change of heart. Blush I don't know why I panicked. I have been truthful and respectful.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 23/02/2022 00:24

Forget the non-emergency number. Call 999 and report him for suspected drunk driving. Who the hell parks like that?

Grin love this! Will do this next time.

I would publish it, number plate and all on your local FB page in the hope it shames him

And I would call the police. He’s a bully and you are enabling him by doing nothing

KloppsTeeth · 23/02/2022 02:24

Even if his wife or someone he knows is on here, it was a rear dick move on his part. Who behaves like that, and then is verbally aggressive to neighbours? Embarrassing!

LadyNell · 23/02/2022 02:29

If that's a public pavement its illegally parked

NumberTheory · 23/02/2022 05:02

The trouble with reporting this to the police, if your estate isn't adopted yet, is that it's private land. So many traffic laws won't apply. Telling the police about it in case of escalation by him isn't a bad idea, but if he does it again, I'm not sure there's much the police can do about making him move it.

I would talk to the management company and see what enforcement options they have.

Is it not a form of harassment or intimatidation. I personally would find it very threatening as the OP and her DH seem to..

O can't imagine there isn't something there from a legal pov.

Blossomtoes · 23/02/2022 09:51

@Idontreplytotrolls

Go out with a small flat screw driver let all his tyres down, or put vaseline on his windscreen wipers. Some thing stinky, fish oil ect in the air vents can do the trick also.

🥔 In the exhaust won't work, it's an old tale people say the pressure Frome the exhaust will force it it. It does not work.

Why would anyone want to do this? It would just make it impossible to move the car. Madness.

Your only unreasonable for covering up the number plate @thirdwheel. You should have let us all see it. I can’t get my head round anyone parking like that.

GeneLovesJezebel · 23/02/2022 09:53

I’d smash his window, open the car, take the handbrake off and push it out the way.
He’s a cunt.

No you wouldn’t. Why do people say such ridiculous things?
LondonQueen · 23/02/2022 13:24

If the gate opens both ways I would slam it as hard as I could into his door. Failing that I might accidentally catch the wing mirror and rip it off. What a twat.

WouldIwasShookspeared · 23/02/2022 13:27

I wonder if his wife is on Mumsnet and read the police advice 😁

WouldIwasShookspeared · 23/02/2022 13:30

No you wouldn’t. Why do people say such ridiculous things?

How do you know?
Some people would.
Have you not seen the countless clips of people fighting in streets, causing criminal damage, episodes of neighbour wars etc etc.

People absolutely do do such things.
