Posting for traffic.

About to go through a divorce, at least it's looking that way. I feel a mess. I want to feel better about myself physically, and I suppose also show the bastard what he's losing.

I'm shit at this type of thing. Dress me, find a hairstyle, makeup, etc. Please.

I'm 5'4, once curly hair, now wavy and shoulder length. Size 8, stupidly small hands and feet, do not have big boobs. I suppose hourglass? Don't know. Brown eyes, pale skin, glasses.

Don't suit wrap dresses, etc. Don't suit skinny jeans. Usually dress like a mix of Phoebe Buffay and Professor Trelawney. 🤦

I need to do something to feel better and this is the easiest and less emotionally difficult way to start. But where do I begin?!

Replying all in one as baby is awake and I'm feeding him! I can't @ anyone very easily! Thank you for all comments and I hope I don't miss anything!

Stylebook sounds really good, I've heard of it before. I think something to keep me on track like that could be really helpful!

Oooh, do you need to be busty to be an hourglass? I'm not sure then! Small waist big hips, big ribs?! 😂 Tiny boobs. Haven't worn a bra in years. Hmm... Gosh I don't know. Emma Watson has a nice style. I think she always looks lovely, her clothes and her hair are what I'd do if I knew how.

Ahhh I do have rollers! Never used them! I might try that in the morning, I am so sick of the hair I have at the moment. I had a mane! Now it's.... nothing. Really upsets me tbh!

I like black too, but I tried to steer away over the years because I had a goth phase so wanted to break out of it. I like greens and blues, dark reds, bold tones. Muted colours are okay but combined with my current stress weight loss and miserable chops, I look washed out.

The only makeup I wear is eyebrow pencil because mine are so thin and crap, flicky eyeliner, a gold eyeshadow sometimes, and mascara. I've never tried hightlighter but I definitely need a glow so I'll try! What would you recommend?

I am due an appointment (as Specsavers keep texting me!) So maybe a bolder pair of glasses would be nice. I do have a bolder pair but think I look weird in them. The ones I have now are bronze and quite big, I do like them though!

I wish I still had frizz! Nowadays I'm more prone to grease! Depressing.

@Tyneside

Have you ever tried 1960s shift dresses? Would suit your build. Something like this shift dress
Oh I love that! Yes I think that would actually suit me....oh sod it, I think I might buy that actually!

Book in a personal styling session at John Lewis. It’s free and so much fun.

Book in a make up session at Mac. Costs around £40 (or did a few years ago) but I still use the tips they gave me as a base for all my make up.

I find buying clothes easier since finding fashion bloggers on Instagram. I like Laura Byrnes
Missy_elz
Gals love highstreet
Sarah Roberts
I'm 35 and find it so useful and it's easy to just click on the links and buy from their stories. I only buy about 4 colours now so that I find all my clothes go with each other as I used to waste loads of money. I found them by searching #highstreetfashion etc so you could find ones suited to your style!
If you can afford it get a dyson airwrap (Im looking on marketplace for one and!) and balyage is good as it's easy to keep up, I only get it done 2/3 times a year.

I hope you soon see that one of the advantages of not being married to a bastard is that you don’t have to care what that bastard thinks. Dainty hands and feet and wavey hair all sound like plus points.

My advice is to go out as much as possible to places you like. Style ideas are communal, spend time around your people and the style shift will come. I don’t mean anything daunting, just get out in the world, to an event you find interesting or a coffee shop you love, and your identity will grow.

I went through a bit of a phase after having kids and going back to work where I just didn't know my style anymore. I got a styling session from John Lewis, had my makeup done at Bobbi Brown, and had a new haircut - all of which really helped me. Also I started collecting images on Pinterest of women whose style I love and who look similar to me. I think you can work out your colours by doing various online questionnaires and then look for examples of clothing that suit your style and colouring. Mostly its an opportunity to explore your own needs and desires which you may not have had the time and space to do for sometime.

You don't have to have big boobs to be an hourglass, it's just if your chest and hips are roughly equal with a smaller waist.

Small feet means able to shop in the kids section (no vat on kids shoes). I got a decent pair of shoes once for work in Asda kids for like a tenner!

I hope you get your confidence back, you sounds lovely.

Hi there, just saw this on a previous email and had to comment! First of all I've been where you are and I know what a roller coaster it is. Be gentle with yourself every day and look for self compassion things on YouTube, especially Brene Brown.

But to hair! Have a look at the curly girl method for curly hair and your curls will come back. I mainly do the scrunching with conditioner in the shower, it's so easy and effective. See if you can find a curly hair specialist in your area. It can be more expensive for the first visit but well worth it. You don't have to spend ages on your hair for it to look great. I'm a wash, scrunch and go kind of girl! Good luck with everything.
