AIBU to send the letting agent an envelope of rubbish?

I used to rent from a letting agent. They were awful. Boiler not working? "You can buy an electric heater for £25 you know". Quarterly property inspections most of which they didn't turn up for ("It's not an appointment as such" - aye well I still took annual leave for it, now wasted) ... you get the picture. I got evicted in the end, landlord selling, they were bastards about that as well ie I was literally on the cusp of getting a secure HA tenancy and told them so on the day notice was up, but still they threatened to come to the door and change the locks (illegally), had to get council tenancy officer involved, just all round bastardry really.

Anyway came home from work today, big glossy brochure from them about their airbnbs etc, multiple copies left on the communal mailbox. Wibu to send them all back without postage together with all the other tonnes of crap that's accumulated in the hallway? And to continue doing so indefinitely?

I entertain myself with the thought of sending a brick to someone who wronged me with no postage on, the postal charge they would have to pay would be so annoying for them. Grin

I’ve heard of people sending used tea bags, and in one case the contents from the cats litter tray -but that is vile!

Lol tempting! There would probably be some crime or other they'd say you committed though. But big massive brochures I'm thinking not so much. Dr Bastard Letting Agent, I do believe you dropped this in the wrong box as I am now securely housed and not completely mental therefore am not the target market for your insanely overpriced lettings administrated by wankers. Yrs etc.

So were you still in the property when the notice period was up? I mean I don't like landlords, as a general rule, but you do get notice to move and if you're still in when the notice period is up, it's not great.

I would just leave reviews for them online to warn other people off them but otherwise, just let it go. Will it make you feel any better? Or would it be better just to get on with your life and forget about them?

Just casually leaving this here like.

I'd put it to the back of my mind till I got home and found this shit.

And yeah I was in occupation past notice but notice is just notice. It doesn't mean some twat with a clipboard gets to come around and change the frigging locks on your family home. Notice means intent to reoccupy. There are many reasons people can't comply with that intent. In my own particular case, with all my worldly goods boxed up and ready to go, it meant waiting for the HA my new landlord to give me the paperwork that made me a secure tenant and a home forever. Like fuck was I going to give all that up for the sake of a few days and they knew it. They were just being bastards. I paid my rent to the very last day I was in there including past notice and moved out leaving a perfectly clean house for them to sell.
