Extreme tooth pain - help!

Posting here for traffic...
I'm in extreme pain with toothache- think I must have an abscess 😢
I've taken Panadol, iboprufen and codine but it's hardly touched the sides.
I'm sitting here with a bag of peas clamped to my jaw, rocking and weeping.
I haven't been in this much pain since I endured 48 hours of childbirth!
I've got a dental appointment tomorrow morning (I'm in NZ), so I have 14 hours to endure before I've got any hope of some relief.
Can you please give me your best tips for how I can manage the pain through what is going to be a very long night?

Rinse with hot salty water and hold it over the tooth. Several times per day.

Orajel if you can get it over there.

Sleep with your head propped up as lying flat with the pressure may make it worse.

Can the doctor give you any emergency painkillers while you are waiting?

Sending you love, toothache is awful xx

Sending you so much love. Toothache is absolutely horrendous.
Agree with PP advice, also hold a cold compress against the face for 15 mins every 2-3 hours. Avoid heat pads and hot water bottles. Whilst they may feel relieving, they can worsen infection and subsequent pain. Big big hugs xxx

Agree with PPs - salt water rinse, sleep propped up becuase lying flat will make it worse.

Be careful not to overdose on the painkillers but take regularly.

I've used clove oil before which helped.

You have my sympathy OP, I had a tooth out yesterday after two years of pain!

I found holding vodka in the side of my mouth the tooth was hurting sometimes helped - the internet had officially said whiskey but vodka helped just as much. It didn't always get rid of the pain completely but one night tuned it out enough that I was able to get to sleep.

Thanks so much for your suggestions and kind words!
I had a very patchy night's sleep, propped up by all the pillows and interrupted by regular trips to the bathroom to swill the salty water.
Diagnosis from the dentist was a broken filling which meant the tooth underneath had cracked. He replaced the filling - I'm still feeling a little tender but much better than yesterday.
Thanks for helping me through a rough night!
