Should I stop taking pill?

I've just had to do an online review for my prescription for combined pill.

My blood pressure is normally great. Today it was quite high. The only thing I can think of which has changed is the combined pill.

I don't drink alcohol. Caffeine intake isn't too bad. I'm a little overweight, but not obese.

I'm 38 and a non smoker.

Should I stop taking the pill? The reason I take it is to regulate periods with the added bonus of contraception. We can use another method, but my periods would go bananas again I imagine.

Realise that isn't really an AIBU;

WIBU to stop taking the pill?

There’s lots of different methods of contraception and hormonal contraception, so if your doctor is concerned about your BP it’s probably a good time to open a discussion with them about what else you can try that might work better for you.

Thanks for response. I've tried the mini pill and the mirena coil, but they didn't regulate my periods.

The nurse hasn't expressed concern about my BP. The reviews are all online now, so I take my BP myself and send it in to them online. It was really healthy when I took it at the beginning (to get the pill), but today I took it four times and it's way higher...

Not sure whether it's a worry or not

I would go with what the nurse says. My BP is high and I take medication for it, but I have been on the pill at the same time.

It's unlikely you have a BP monitor at home (if you don't normally have BP issues don't buy one) but are there any relatives you could borrow on off for a little while to keep an eye on it? Or does your local pharmacist have one?

I do have a BP monitor at home. All the reviews are online so I have to take it myself. The nurse won't necessarily say anything as I won't speak to her unless she sees the review and calls me.

I thought this was standard everywhere now since covid, but maybe not?

You said the nurse hadn't expressed concern about your BP so I thought you had spoken to her (even online). Maybe flag it that you would like a review. I don't know if that is possible. I've been off the pill a few years (ttc/ pregnant)

Ah yes, I can see how my wording caused confusion.

She hasn't expressed concern as she hasn't expressed anything!

I might switch to mini pill you can buy over over counter tbh as it's given me the heebeejeebees now I've looked up "does combined pill elevate your blood pressure"? Maybe my periods will have had a nudge in the right direction now.
